Chapter 1

The Beginning

A loud bang on the door and I turn off the shower and my singing.
As I open the bathroom door, I see Anna standing with a frown face.
"What ??" I asked confused
"Vani can you stop yelling and get ready faster. I need to get to work on time" she sighed.
"Ann that's singing not yelling" I snapped as I walked out into my room wrapping the towel around my body.
"Huh !! If that's singing my dear then I would rather prefer being deaf than listening to your cacophony " my bestie retorted . "Anyway I have prepared our breakfast, so hurry up" she said leaving me in my room to get ready.

Hi I am Nirvana. Completed 20 years of existence and graduation in cinematography from New York Film Academy.

I love my life to be honest. To be able to do what you want to and enjoying it, is a blessing. So yes, I am blessed !
After lighting an incense stick in the corner of my room where one wide wooden plank supports my God. I dressed myself in a blue distressed jeans and a denim shirt.
I scurried into the kitchen the moment I realized it's 8.30 and if I don't get out in another 15 mins, I will surely hear an earful of curse words.
"Will you ever for once in your life wake up early enough to move out on time !!!!! " Anna said literally huffing over to get her car keys. "Chill babes! We work in the same office. And I am never late"
"You are not late because you drive insane ,woman " she stated as a matter of factly.
Well that's Anna for you , she is my best friend. We also live together and work together. As much as I hate her "on time, everytime" philosophy, I love her for always being there for me. I am really lucky to have her by my side because she is my family in literal sense. Ever since I left India to come here for my higher education , I had no one to share my day with until I met Anna. And we have been inseparable since the very first year of our graduation.

The drive to office was quick as usual or dangerous according to Anna's standard. Even though it's only a couple of miles away from home , I spend almost my entire day at Panaroma studios.
"Hey Vani " I turned around to the source of sound to find a slouched, tall boy running towards me. "Hey Mill , what's up? Why are you running ?"
It wasn't a surprise to find Mill excited because he is always like that. Cheerful, lively and the perfect gossip monger in office. But today his excitement was on another level.
"Did you not hear from Sam? He asked all of us to be in his room in 10 minutes. Seems like he has some news to crack." "Okay. That seems pretty obvious" I said grabbing my coffee from Anna.
"So let's just get going guys" Anna added.
Anna and Mill waited for the lift while I took the stairs. Our office is 4 stories high and taking a lift to reach the 3rd is too much. Also I needed to stop at the 2nd floor, in my cabin to keep my bag and stuff. When I finally reached Sam's room I realized that the entire office was gathered in the conference room next his room.
As soon as I reached there I tried to find my friends who were standing in the front near Sam's desk. We were around 18 people in the room but no one was speaking. Sam looked up as I entered and sighed. "Nirvana, here you are. We were just waiting for you. Hurry up "
I stood right there in front of Sam with a confused look.
Now let me tell you. Sam is my boss and I consider him as my friend except the age gap as he is 38 . He is kind and really cool. I still remember the first day when I walked in for an interview, hella nervous. I gave him my profile and he reviewed my grades and remarked in one simple sentence "I look forward to your creativity shining through my work".
Till this day I have made sure not to disappoint him. And this has earned me his faith in my work and recognition .
"Good morning Sam" I said.
"Good morning to you and everyone. I know all of you must be wondering the cause of this immediate meeting. Well it is for our upcoming project. I am happy to report that we have made the deal with Columbia pictures for their next motion picture." To this the, entire room was filled with cheer and applause. "That's great Sam !!!!" I replied totally amazed with the sudden contract. Our company had been working really hard to bag this deal and I knew it could do wonders for us. "Hold on to that Nirvana. There is more to it" he said. "I want you to lead this project ". I stood there shook at his words. Before I could comprehend any further Anna and Mill started squeezing my shoulders. "Really? I mean Sam it's a major motion picture not a commercial shoot you know... I mean how can I ... are you sure?" I stuttered to find exact words for my feelings. " Yes, I am sure more than you are. I know you are the perfect camerawoman for this entire project. Infact we got this project because of all the past commercial advertisement campaigns you shot. And it's just not me, even they are impressed by your work." Sam continued. "You are going to do this, I know you will do it flawlessly ". Everyone clapped in the room. After rounds of hugs, shoulder squeeze and hand shakes, I was left alone. I followed Sam to his room. "Thank you so much Sam. It really means a lot an-". Sam cut me off "Oh please, stop this acceptance speech and get ready for the work. This will be a lot more demanding than advertising campaigns. This will take months to piece together and efforts to a whole new level.
And since it's a 90 day schedule. You will have to start from tomorrow itself . The casting is set, location planning done. You will meet them tomorrow at their set for the cover and poster shoot. Okay?" "Okay !!!" I replied. How could I not . I am beyond happy. It's like all my hard work is being paid off well. I will shoot a film, a movie OMG !!!!!!! . Is this real ? It has to be.
