Chapter 21

Friends No More

My emotions are all over the place. This cannot be happening. Before I can think of anything, I find myself running towards my car and Hero calling me, following behind. He pulled me around into his arms "Stop !!! Nirvana please calm down. Okay? There has to be some reason for" he stops mid sentence and rubs his thumb across my cheeks. "Why are you crying? Baby please" he said hugging me tightly. I was about to climb in the car but he stopped me and took the keys. "I can't let you drive like this" he said. I navigate Hero, a bit distracted though and we finally reach. Without thinking much, I head to the door and knock. Minutes fly away and the door finally opens as I feel Hero's fingers around my elbow.
"What are you doing here Vani?" Mill asked confused. "Can we come inside?" Hero asks on my behalf because I lost my voice looking at Mill. "Uh Ohk" Mill moves away but I can make out he knows very well why we are there. Hero pushes me in. "So..?" Mill hushed. "So? So you tell me what is going on?" I scowled instantly. "What are you talking?" He asked rubbing his hand on his neck. "You know what I am talking about. Mill don't you try to act innocent. You sent me those awful messages didn't you?" I don't care lowering my voice. "Vani.. I.. what are you talking about?" His pale face said it all. "How could you? Just because I didn't listen to you, you will get this low? How could you Mill and why would you?" I push Hero's hand. "I had no other choice !!!" Mill shouted back. "Choice? Mill sending those messages and pictures. Why did you do that? I told you we like each other, didn't I ??" I gritted my teeth. "You don't get it. You still don't? Are you that dumb?" Mill scowled. "I am dumb enough to trust you. When you apologized I thought it was over. That you finally see how happy I am with him" I said looking at Hero, who stood there silently, keeping his hand at the small of my back. "What is your fucking problem? You tried to mess up between us. Creating doubts in my mind. Playing with my emotions.You certainly don't like him but I don't get it what makes you hate him so much?" I stood right on his face. "I love you, that is my problem" he whispered finally meeting my eyes. "W...wait what?" I asked moving back. "I love you Nirvana" Mill said louder. "How could you not see it?" Mill asked moving closer to me. "I have since long" he moved even closer but was pushed back by Hero. "Don't" Hero glares at him. "You don't fucking come in my house and tell me what to do with her!!" Mill yelled. "Who do you think you are? How well do you even know her?" Mill eyes Hero and then me. "I tried to make you understand but you are so lost in him that you don't see it. I never treated you any less" Mill continued. "I never felt anything other than being friends Mill" I said. He knows it. He knows me well. "Why not? We have been together for so long. I make you happy, and you said you enjoy my company more than anyone else's. I actually thought-" I cut him off "Thought what? That I will feel any different for you? God !!! Mill you are part of my group. Fatty, Anna and you are my only friends. We work together, party together but that's it. When I didn't make you feel special, how could you think you were anytime?" I said disbelievingly. "So you don't feel anything for me but you certainly feel for this guy you met a month ago?" He looked at Hero but before I could reply Hero turns towards him. "I don't know what is your problem man? When will you get it that she is not interested in you?" Hero remarked. "You stay out of it !!" Mill snapped. "No you stay out of it. You stay out of our relationship. I respect your feelings here but she is taken" Hero holds my hand and turns to leave. "Where do you think you are going? We haven't finished !!" Mill pulled me by my other hand. "Let go off me Mill" I jerked away from his grip. "Stay away from me" I snapped and walked away with Hero.
This whole confrontation was eye-opening for me. All those coming around, bantering, caring and helping Mill did, comes in my mind. He corrupted our friendship. We have always been there for each other for six years. And now, there is just nothing.
The drive is silent. And I am thankful to Hero for not pushing it. He glanced at me every few minutes but kept quiet. What should I say to Anna and Fatty? What will they think? Will they be angry on me or support Mill in this?I don't know what hurts me more, betrayal of Mill or loss of a friend. I am not sure, how will I face him in the set. But one thing I am very sure about is, I want Hero. I want us.
