Not so good
"May I help you?" I asked Hero's mom when I went to the kitchen after shower. "No honey. No need of that" she smiled while chopping tomatoes. "I can set the table" I suggested and she smiled in appraisal. Hero's mom is so kind and extremely active. She is a filmaker, writer and artist and no wonder juggles her work effortlessly with a family. Hero looks a lot like her. He has her eyes, nose and jawline. Their face structure is so similar that one can easily make out that she is his mother. I was about to set the plates, when there was a knock on the door. "Do you mind seeing it?" She asked and I quickly ran to open the door. A man in his mid 40s looked at me queerly. "I don't think I am at the wrong house" he said taking off his shoes. "George! That's Hero's friend Nirvana" Martha introduced me while setting the food on the table. "Hello Sir. Uhm.. it is...uh ...nice to meet you" I said as we shook hands. "Hello. This is the first time I see some girl coming to our place rather than Hero's bunch of ghouligans" he said. "Nobody talks about my friends like that !!!!" Hero came running down with Diesel. "The dinner is ready" Martha announced and we moved to the table to take our seats. "So son how did everything go? Tell me about it" his father asked while serving himself. "The experience was nice. We completed the shoot before time and next weekend I will be leaving for the promotional tour" Hero said without looking at his parents. I get the hint, that they don't talk about his work in a very detailed manner. They only give a rough check and discussions regarding movies are kept out of the door. It is nice though, because I know there are people who will always credit his family background for his work. Oh !! He landed the role, because his uncle is in the movie. He bagged that role because his parents are in the industry, they have got contacts. I find this kind of stuff, really demeaning. Not only towards Hero but his family as well who are trying their best to give him a normal atmosphere. Their house, their way of conduct and everything doesn't hold even a slightest ounce of extravagance. "Nirvana which character do you play in the movie?" His mother asked. "Oh I am not an actor. I am a cinematographer" I said looking at Hero, seated next to me, to confirm what exactly has he told his mother about me. "Oh, Ohk I thought maybe you too..... nevermind" his mother then continued talking to her husband. After the dinner was done, I helped his mother to clear the table. "I and Nirvana are going to Alex's place" Hero said slapping a hat on his unruly hair and pulled me out of the door. "Didn't you tell your mother that I am not an actor?" I asked Hero while we walked down to his friend's house. "She didn't ask so maybe that's why I didn't say" he retorted back. This is a normal thing, but somehow I am not able to ignore the uneasiness that surrounded the dining table after I told his mother about my profession.
By the time I got my mind clear, or rather I should say I tried to, we reached Alex's house. "What?" Hero shrugged as I raised my eyebrow when he simply entered the house, without knocking on the door. Regardless, we were not the only one there. There were at least ten to eleven boys, some drinking, some busy on their phone. "Hero !!" A guy in dark sweatshirt and denim appeared out of nowhere. "Hey man. Finally back" he said hugging Hero before turning to me "And you are 'the Nirvana'" he said looking at me from head to toe. "Nir, this is Alex. My bestest friend. And we are in the same modelling agency" Hero introduced as I shook Alex's hand. "Heard a lot about you. No wonder, my boy is swooned that he can't stop talking about you" Alex said making both me and Hero hide our face. "That's too much for information there. Let's get a drink" Hero said and turned to me "Do you want anything?" He asked. "No thanks. I don't drink" I replied and he chuckled "I know, you don't but you know, you can like have something, nobody will judge you" he said smiling. "No it's not about that. I don't like drinking" I said as he took my hand. "Okay, then wait here. Take a seat. I will be back" he said and left to get himself a drink. I had exactly no idea what to do, so instead of standing in the middle of the room, I took a seat on the sofa in the living room, where Hero left me. "Hello" the guy next to me, who was busy on his phone until now, greeted. "Hi" I smiled back. "I am sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude, when you sat next to me and I was on my phone" he said apologetically. "Ohh No. No problem. I wasn't expecting exactly" I said. I actually didn't expect him to talk to me. "Well it is hard to not notice a girl like you" he said and I smiled looking away to find Hero. "So do you want a drink or something?" He asked nicely. "No. Thank you though" I said. Hero is taking long. Maybe he got busy talking to another friend. "C'mon. You come to a party and you don't want to drink. Sorry but that's being party pooper" the guy teased me. I smiled back, not to look offended. Somebody must have broken the controller because the speaker blasted music at an excessive volume. Not that I mind, it is a party after all but Madonna's voice is shrieking, drilling through my eardrums. I turned my phone's ringtone volume to outdoor mode, incase someone calls me. Even though it won't be of any help as the speaker blasts Animals by Martin Garrix now. "You don't drink but hopefully you can dance. Do you mind joining me?" the guy asked. "I don't think that's a good idea. I have two left feet" I lied. The last thing I want is for Hero to find me dancing with a random guy. "You are funny" the guy laughed "but I would love to see you on two left feet" he said and stood up, offering his hand to me. "No man. She is taken" I heard Hero's voice and found him standing behind me. "Sorry man" the guy raised his hands in surrender. Hero handed me a red foam glass and I took a sip without seeing the content. I turned to look at Hero who was staring at me. "What?" I shrugged. "You didn't even see, what was there in the cup" He said. "Why would I? I trust you." I said and he gave me a goofy smile. "I leave you for one minute and find guys drooling all over" he said taking a swig of his beer. "Not guys. Just one guy" I corrected him. "Huh!! I was there talking to Mike and Alex about Atlanta and Ronn came there humming about you and now I see Antonio, asking you for dance" he said. "Maybe because I am the only girl here" I said and he shook his head smiling.
Later when the house gradually cleared, only Hero's close friends were left. I met all of them, and they were friendlier than I expected. Danish, Valand and I hit it off instantly because of our Indian connection. Tyler, Jasper and Alex tried hard to embarrass Hero by telling me about his drunk and off road escapades but earned severe glares from him. His other friend Rory, who has a certain liking for Hero's sister Mercy told me how surprised he is finding that Hero finally has a girl in his life. So the rest of the night turned out better than the party and by the time we reached back home, it was 2 am. "Wait a minute" Hero said before fishing out his wallet to get his pair of spare key. I could hear, Diesel's quite whoofs from the other end.
"Did you enjoy yourself?" He asked once, we reached upstair, to my designated room. "I did" I said pulling him to sit beside me. "All those drunk stories are half true" he said getting all embarrassed. "Shore shore!!" I chuckled. "You know we can sleep together. My parents won't be up till morning" he said keeping his head on my shoulder. "Please. I don't want your m" I started saying but Hero cuts me off by pulling me under him and kissing me. "You don't want me to sleep walk to your room. Do you?" he smirked before resting his head on my stomach.
