2010
the sky was blue that morning. gulp of swallows flying in flocks. forest birds chirping, singing their own melody no human could comprehend but appreciate for its serenity. things seems to be going well that day. no rain. just enough amount of sunshine breaking through the cloud and scrumptious breakfast served on the table by the lodge.
everything seems perfect. all but juhyun. she, on the other hand was occupied running errands for taehyung. following suit the said man's steps carrying flyers to the main hall. since the beginning of the camp, he has been tasking her with loads of work. even when it was not hers to begin with. she was there for him to lift, to clean, to place and to distribute stuffs. and sometimes even as trivial as "fetch me water!" (with no please in his demand).
she did refused him using wendy as her shield but he nonchalantly held her on the responsibility as the leader of the group which wendy was with the least power couldn't defend juhyun in any ways. the sole reason she participated the camp was to be happy. but she was not. she felt powerless and bullied. and she hated it.
"juhyu-"
"enough!" juhyun berated, releasing the box of flyers in her grips causing it to fall to the ground, alarming quite of number of spectators there. she stared down at the flyers scattered innocently on the grass before glaring sharply at the man from a distance.
"i quit!" she shouted before marching towards taehyung's direction and stood in front of him.
"i quit being a leader." she continued. "i have never agree to this. besides you're just getting back at me! you wouldn't even care for an explanation either. why is that? why are you making my days miserable. i was supposed to have fun here." her voice is getting smaller and tears forming in the corner of her eyes.
taehyung was flustered for a moment of her action but he expected this much. truly he did foresee at least this. it was his intention to make her mad. he did noticed the drops waiting to fall from her eyes before she wiped it off in a swift. he immediately grabbed juhyun's wrist and pulled her away from the crowd.
finally when they reached a lakeside, taehyung released juhyun's grip. folding both of his arms to his chest smirking. "what's wrong with you? can't you handle these kind of easy jobs princess"
juhyun was doing her best to deal with her tears. holding it back she stood straight in front of him with the resort to deal with the matter once and for all.
"it wasnt me" she gazed softly while looking straight into his eyes. her sudden soft and stern gaze unknowingly managed to soften taehyung's heart to surrender his former intention of teasing her.
"i didnt do what you accused of me doing. i didnt even know yeri before we became roommates here. why would i spread such things? please... please believe me taehyung," she pleaded gently. "i know you as a great friend who save me. i didnt know where this rumor came from but i didnt do it."
unfortunate for her, the man was not really paying attention. he was at the moment loss in his thought while observing her. he just realized how petite she actually was compared to his large build. the top of her head only reached a quarter of his breast bone. he wonder why he never noticed this before. maybe the thick insole of her shoes she wore to school was at fault. not that he ever checked what she wore anyway. the staring game got more intense when he realized how beautiful she is. her facial features situated perfectly on a fair canvas. her eyes are interestingly huge compared to her small face. how is she even human. then his eyes wandered to the huge thick black-framed glasses she wore. he frown. he disagreed with its presence. he thought it was hindering her doe eyes from shining through. dont people actually wear lenses or thinner frame these days.
"excuse me? earth to taehyung. are you even listening" juhyun snapped her fingers in front of taehyung's eyes. she was annoyed upon getting no reply from him after her long rant.
what juhyun did not know was taehyung actually knew. he knew that it wasnt juhyun who spread the rumours.
it was the night before when taehyung and his best friend jungkook were strolling along the lodge towards the woods when they discovered (or more like overheard) the truth. two girls which both of them couldn't recognised especially in the dimmed lighted place were sitting facing the lake with puff of smokes came out of their mouth. taehyung was going to ignore but halt his steps at the mention of juhyun.
"see the girl just now - what's her name again? juhyun?" the girl with a long black hair laughed.
"the nerd was everywhere. tae totally worked her his way." the other girl with a blonde short hair replied and coughed while laughing.
"you think when he gonna figure it out? he totally believe me when i said dont trust his new friend. how would i know he automatically thinking of that poor girl. f*** i dont even know her."
now that taehyung listen carefully, he recognised the dark-haired girl. it was sooyoung. yeri's classmate and also jimin's younger sister. jimin was his childhood friend. they basically grew together except jimin attend a different high school. just like yeri, taehyung never saw her as a woman. he knew very well sooyoung had crush on him and he had firmly rejected her recently.
"ah i dont know. and i dont care." she sighed.
jungkook can see the anger rising in taehyung's eyes. taking a deep breath, he continue to walk away pushing taehyung towards their former destination. and taehyung succumb to his anger. it does not do any good to confront them anyway. it was mostly his fault.
"why are you smiling" juhyun pouted. she was definitely pissed off.
shaking his head, he walked away with a smile plastered on his face leaving juhyun behind. "goodbye kid. dont forget to send the flyers to the hall."
and juhyun was left dumfounded and frustrated.
