Chapter 24

A/N: Just so you know, there will be smut in this chapter that you can skip if you want. I will as always put a warning before and after that part.

Okay, so things didn't suck that badly. His parents had greeted him and Sam like normal. Pulling them into tight hugs and saying how much they missed him and Sam's parents had done the same.

Once outside, their group walked over to where the cars were parked.

Colby waited until their parents were engaged in conversation about some function the four of them had attended before angling his body to shield the movement of his hand as he grasped Sam's and squeezed it gently.

"I never said thank you"

"For what?"

"Just, for being there"

"Well, you're welcome." Sam gave him a questioning look, "Are you okay?"

Colby nodded, dropping Sam's hand before their parents could get suspicious, "Yeah, I think, I think I'm okay, just you know, nervous."

"That's understandable, but I'll be right there with you"

"I know," Colby said, and he did know. Sam was always there, through everything. As sure as the sun would rise, Sam would be there for him, he knew that for certain.

What was uncertain was how his parents were going to react when he told them that he liked boys, and not just boys, one boy in particular. But it was Sam surely he had that going in his favour, right? His parents knew Sam, knew the kind of person he was, maybe that would make it easier to convey to them why it was so easy for Colby to fall in love with him.

Sam was still looking at him, giving him that shy smile that was all his and no one else's. "Your parents are waiting for you"

"Yeah, I, uh should get going. I'll uh, see you later?"

"Yup, you know where I'll be," Sam said, giving him, was that a flirtatious look? Oh no, Sam was not about to start stuff with their parents right there.

Colby nodded awkwardly, praying to anyone that would listen that his face wasn't as red as he thought it was as he got in the car with his parents.

"You and Sam seem to be getting along well" His mom commented.

"Yeah, uh, you know we've always been close"

"Mm-hmm," His father said, looking at him with raised eyebrows. "You sure you're not...?"

"Dad!" Colby groaned leaning his head against the window.

"What? 'm just asking, you know-"

"Okay, okay Dad geez," Colby said, cutting him off. "Why can't you just ask me how I am or how LA is or?"

"All right, son, I get it, touchy subject, but seriously. Someone like that-"

"Oh leave him alone" Colby's mom admonished gently, "'m sure they'll get it together someday"

"Mom, you don't even know if I like boys"

At that, both of his parents started laughing.

"I don't get it, what's so funny?"

"Oh honey, don't you think I knew about you liking boys. What about that boy, oh, what was his name George?" (A/N: I do not know Colby's parents' names so they're getting pretend ones)

"Which one is that?"

"The blonde one, Gage was always hanging around with, think he played for the high school"
