Chapter 6

(Y/n)

It was late afternoon, and the weather got warmer—which (Y/n) was delighted about, because she could finally stop clenching onto her jacket.

Mother Nature was active and working hard for spring to come; (Y/n) could see little shrubs and growing plant stems on the forest floor, which was only covered in little bit of snow.

The sky remained pale blue as the sun shone bright on to Earth, giving an omen for early spring.

The group was on their way to rescue Sean, and they had been walking for awhile. Cassidy, who claimed to know the location, was in front leading the rest; she did not seemed to be tired, which was weird, because the entire group was.

(Y/n) was tempted to ask if they were there yet, but Daniel had already asked Cassidy two times, both her replies seemed like sugarcoated frustration. Cassidy understands though; his brother had just been kidnapped by a person she knows.

(Y/n) felt pretty bad for little Daniel, because he had witnessed Sean like this before back at the gas station, and he was going to witness the same incident again. She just had hope it's not as worst.

(Y/n) glanced at Daniel, who was beside her, and noticed his little frown. She walked for a few seconds before speaking. "Are you worried?"

He walked in silence for a few seconds. "(Y/n) ... The last time, he was kidnapped like this, too." Daniel withered. "When I managed to save him, he pretended to be strong, but I know he was scared. I was also scared that I was never going to see him again." He lowered his eyelids and slumped his shoulders.

(Y/n) took a deep breath. She wasn't particularly good at comforting, but no excuses were needed at the moment; she needed to substitute for Sean and help Daniel through rough times like Sean would have if he was to be there.

"I'm so sorry that happened to you two." Her voice was filled with sympathy. "No one ... no one should ever experience something like that. Daniel, stay strong ... and be careful." (Y/n) gently ruffled his umber, jaggy hair.

He timidly gave her a smile. "Yeah, thanks."

"Isabelle is not like that," Cassidy joined in. "She would never hurt your brother. Trust me, lil guy."

Daniel slowly bit his bottom lip and nodded. "Okay."

The snowy forest ground left traces—and every time they took a step, a footprint mark appears clear and molded. As they continued to walk, other footprints were there, but it was not theirs.

In the distance, there was an abandoned house. The windows was broken and tightly covered with planks, as if the house was like a top secret place for spies to conduct their plans. The doors looked barely steady, and the features were all run-down. The color of the house was discomfortable, and most of the paint had been chipped off, leaving some wood chips on the snow; it had almost look like a haunted house.

Was this really the place a kidnapper would held its' hostage? With such fragile walls, Sean could easily kick the sides down and simply hopped out of the room.

As soon as Daniel's eyes laid on the abandoned house, he started speeding towards the it recklessly.

"No, Daniel!" (Y/n) quietly exclaimed and started running after him.

The door of the house swung open, revealing the same woman who had taken Sean—Isabelle—but her men seemed to be gone. (Y/n) caught up to Daniel and immediately put him behind her, shielding him from Isabelle.
