Everyone in school greets his comeback. Cheerleader squad surrounded him, like his own personal cheerleaders.
Fran could imagine they screams his name like a hero, "Joe, Joe, you're our mojo!"
(Heck, that doesn't even rhyme. I'm really bad in poetry).
Joe only smiles and receives everyone's greetings. His eyes never wander away from Fran. She still looks sad and scared. He curses Jared for scaring her like this.
Shawn smiles to Fran and says, "I got a new love song. Wanna hear it?"
"Good for you," mumbles her without any interest.
Shawn is frowning. Lack of her enthusiasm. It is the first time Fran looks like this.
He asks, "Are you okay?"
"Fine. Just tired of school."
"Yeah. School sucks," says him with a grin.
The same grin usually melted her heart easily. Today she felt empty. Not even smiling back to him. Shawn looks puzzled.
Fran stares to her phone. No other message from David. Only one text few days ago.
(David, don't you miss me anymore? You don't need me?)
The thought broke her heart. He is only her client. But it seems he has taken a special place in her heart.
Shawn asks again, "Are you really okay, Fran?"
"I'm good. How's your band?"
Shawn smiles widely.
He says loudly, "We got scouted by a talent agent. We might be performing in bigger stage soon."
"Good for you."
Again, the lack of enthusiasm.
Joe approaches Fran and puts his hand on her shoulder, showing his claim on her. Shawn stares to his hand and his smile fades.

Shawn says, "Class is starting. See you later, Fran."
"Okay."
Joe whispers, "Don't get too close to him. He wouldn't love you back. Not like me. Shawn spreads too much charms to many girls. Like all singers, wanting more fans. Giving false hopes..."
Fran sighs.
She says, "I could look after myself, Joe. Don't worry about me."
A kiss to her head.
He whispers, "My feeling doesn't change one bit, Fran. I still lo..."
