We followed the flowing black tail of Darkfeather. We being me, the outspoken and totally awsome Roaringpaw, and my best friend, Crimsonpaw. Okay, she’s not the best of best friends, but no one’s perfect.

My little bob tail twitched at that and I almost smirked. I make jokes about my friends, too, alright? Not just of that furball, Rushpaw. I don’t do it with a harming intention, don’t get me wrong! Whenever I get bored, it just kind of happens..? I don’t know, I haven’t figure myself out yet.

Anyways, going back to training.. Darkfeather was bringing us towards the clearing where we would learn how to hunt, and how to fight and how to do everything! I let out a little squeal, which earned me a glance from Crimsonpaw which clearly said “Really?”. I just gave her a grin before I ran head first into the rump of one of our mentors.

“Agh!” I spat out as I made contact with Darkfeather’s rump, before stumbling backwards. Crimsonpaw took a few steps back to give me some space as I recoiled

“Tch, we’re here.” Darkfeather had stayed put the whole time, not moving the slightest bit when I crashed into her. “Ehehe.. Sorry?” I said sheepishly as Crimonpaw and Stormstep, who was keeping up with us from behind to ‘ensure our safety as first-timers of the forest’, padded past me towards the clearing.

Okay, scene setting. The clearing was washed out with light from the sun, illuminating the small things here and there and casting shadows behind the trees. The small ripples in the stream, caused by smaller fish, created a calming sound. Everything seemed so peaceful here, no pollution, whether it be by noise or plain greenhouse gasses, were evident in the air and the trees were a shade of green that looked so vibrant that no tree planted in a town or city could rival it’s color. It was just.. Breath taking.

“Woah” Was all I could say as I took in the sight. I didn’t really pay attention on our journey here, so this was my first time really taking everything in.

Stormstep let out a deep chuckle as he stepped up next to me.

“Beautiful, isn’t it? Is this your first time into the forest, Roaringpaw? I know you were a kittypet, but I’m a fair and just cat, most of Thunderclan is, so I won’t judge if you haven’t.” Stormstep stated, his eyes not on his apprentice but on Darkfeather, who was taking Crimsonpaw to the opposite side of the clearing.

“Well.. My, uh, twoleg used to have these things called books and sometimes they would fall to the ground and open up. Then I would see pictures of the forest in them. I’ve never actually been to a forest in all of my life.” I relented. I found it tough to explain what I thought was common knowledge into a ‘detailed’ dictionary definition.

“Pictures?” Stormstep questioned.

“Oh, yes! You don’t know. They’re like.. taking a mental image of something and then they… magically turn it into solid form. I don’t know how they do it though.” I almost facepalmed. Why was Stormstep so interested anyways? I thought most cats would shrug it off as twoleg nonsense and not be interested.

“Hmm.. There’s a lot you can learn outside of the clan, no?” Stormstep nodded to himself.

“Ahem. I believe we’re meant to be teaching the apprentices something, not the other way around, Stormstep.” Darkfeather shook her head. “You’re a senior warrior too, shouldn’t you be strict?”

“Well, there’s always time to gather knowledge. Although I’m older than you I still have a lot to learn. But, you are right. Let’s start by learning the hunting crouch.” Stormstep commented, walking into the middle of the clearing, beckoning the two apprentices to gather around him.
