"Scott, why the fuck did I let you talk me into this?!" Mitch snappped. He took a deep breath and swallowed, trying to compose himself.

"Mitch, I'm sorry, this wasn't supposed to happen-"

"And on the day that it decides to fucking rain in Los Angeles for Gods sake whyy??" Mitch whined as he glared at the thunderstorm clouds forming in the sky. He held on to each side of the boat and closed his eyes. After not even ten seconds he frowned and stomped his foot on the floor of the boat. He looked around desperately and swallowed. Scott sighed at Mitch's childish behavior, but it was obvious that Mitch was upset.

"Look, Mitch, it's not my fault that the engine just randomly stopped working, and it's also not my fault that we're in the middle of practically nowhere and it's about to thunderstorm," Scott said. "But we just need to stay calm." Scott said. He took out his phone right at the same time that Mitch jostled his arm. They both watched in horror as Scott's phone flew out of his hands and plunged into the water. Scott and Mitch looked at each other, their mouths open in shock.

"Oh my god Scott I am so so sorry I was going to grab your hand and then say something I didn't know you were about to take your phone out I swear-" Scott cut him off.

"It's okay. I'm just glad I have everything on iCloud," Scott said, trying to stay calm.

"Scott, I swear I'll buy you a new one-"

"Mitch, babe, it's okay. Don't worry about it. I was going to buy a new one anyway. It's okay, I promise," Scott said. He turned around and glared at the broken engine, wondering why these things happened to him.

The couple had gone to the beach that day, figuring they should make the best of the gorgeous weather in Los Angeles. They also had the day off, and it had been Mitch who had suggested the idea. It was Scott who had seen the boats and insisted that they rent one after sunbathing for a while. Mitch had given in, and out of nowhere the storm clouds had set in. And to top it all off, the boat's engine had given out and stopped altogether.

And now they were in the middle of nowhere, Mitch freaking out and Scott pretending to stay calm.

Mitch took out his phone and pressed the button on the top. Once, twice, three times. His phone didn't turn on.

"It's dead!" Mitch groaned. It looked like he wanted to fling it out of the boat just like Scott's had, but he thought better of it and stuck it back in his bag. He was glad he hadn't brought his leather one, instead he had brought a salmon pink beach bag that Kirstie had bought for them. People had given the couple looks and Scott had been slightly ashamed, but Mitch showed it off proudly.

He reached into the beach bag and took out Scott's t shirt, giving it to him. He looked up at the sky and then pulled his shirt over his head. He took another deep breath and then looked around. They were too far away from the shore to swim over there, and the tide was getting pretty strong. It wouldn't be a wise move on their part.

"What are we gonna do?!" Mitch whined, and it looked like he was on the verge of tears. Scott leaned forward and pulled Mitch into his arms. Mitch sat on his lap and buried his face in Scott's chest. Scott ran his fingers though Mitch's hair and kissed his forehead.

"It'll be okay. We'll be okay," Scott promised.

And it was okay. The coast guard had been making runs to make sure no one was out in the water, and had come across the two men. They had pulled both men into the boat, and after being assured that the boat's engine would keep working, they set out for shore, just in time for Scott and Mitch to get the hell out.

"We are never going on another boat again," Mitch said as they drove home. Scott only laughed.
