The next few days had went by quickly. Before Silver had even realized it, the days had turned into months, and the months into years. Within the past few years Blaze had grown up a lot. She learned to talk, to walk and even help with things around the cave. Life was going smoothly for them with no major complications. Chris had continued to help them through all these years. He didn't change at all overtime. He was still the same cheerful man Silver had met long ago when he almost robbed the small grocery store. To Silvers luck, Chris didn't press any charges over the attempted robbery.
By the time Blaze was able to talk, Silver was much more happy. He was glad to finally have someone to talk with on those lonely nights in the cave. When Blaze was able to walk she would go with Silver everywhere, leaving his side was not an option.
One night Silver and Blaze were at the lake near their cave skipping rocks. They were having a small competition to see who would skip rocks the furthest.
"Try to beat this one." Silver tossed a smooth round rock across the lake and he watched it bounce across the water until it stopped and fell into the lake.
"Think you can get further?" Silver asked with a smirk. Blaze smirked back at him. "I know I can." She tossed her smooth flat rock across the lake. They both watched the rock skip by the spot where Silvers had stopped.
"I win!!!" Blaze jumped up and cheered. "You got lucky." Silver said as he crossed his arms. They both sat down by the lake and looked out at it. The moonlight shined down on the water creating a beautiful scene.
"Do you think we will ever have a house?" Blaze asked as she looked up at Silver. Silver sighed before answering, "no, I don't think we ever will. We have no money to buy a house." "Oh." Blaze looked down at the water. Silver grabbed another smooth rock that was laying next to him before standing up. "I get one last try to beat you." Blaze stood up. "You won't win. I got really far." She smiled at her accomplishment. Silver tossed his rock out onto the lake then he watched it skip across the water. The rock was nearing the spot where Blazes fell in and she started to worry that Silver might beat her.
Before they could see how far the rock went, a man jumped out from behind a bush and dashed towards Silver. He was dressed in all black, pants, a shirt, sunglasses and he had gun holsters on his thighs. Before Blaze could do anything, the man grabbed Silver and started to run off with him.
"Silver!!" Blaze yelled out, then she started to run after the man. Unfortunately her legs were so much smaller that she couldn't keep up. Blaze watched as the man was getting further and further away, she knew she wouldn't be able to save Silver now.
"Silver! Come back!" Blaze held her hand out towards them and as she did, a lightning bolt shot out from the palm of her hand and struck the man in his face. He dropped Silver and fell to the ground unconscious. Blaze ran quickly over to them hoping the bolt didn't hurt Silver. Luckily it didn't, Silver quickly stood up and looked down at the man who now had a burn mark on the side of his face. He then turned his gaze to Blaze who looked shocked, and worried.
"How did you do that?" Silver asked. "I don't know, I didn't know I could. It was an accident, I didn't mean to hurt him." Blaze said shocked and fearful that she had hurt someone. "This isn't normal, we need to tell Chris about this right away, before it gets worse." Blaze nodded in agreement.
They both quickly ran towards the city leaving the unconscious man in the woods. Shortly they arrived at the grocery store Chris worked at, but the lights were all off and the sign hanging on the door read "closed".
"He's not here. He must have went home." Silver sighed in defeat, they would have to wait until morning to tell Chris about what had happened. Hopefully they could wait that long. "Let's go home, Chris told me it's not safe out on the streets at night." Silver told Blaze. She nodded so they both walked back into the forest and they went back to the cave where they were now living.
Sitting down in exhaustion, Silver ran his hand through his hair before speaking. "I don't know what that was or how you did it, but thank you for saving me, without you helping in that strange way, who knows where that man would have taken me." Blaze sat down next to Silver then she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly. "You're welcome, I'm not letting anyone take you away from me." A smile spread across Silvers face then he hugged her back.
"We should get some sleep, I want to get up early tomorrow so we can talk to Chris about what happened." Silver said as they parted from their hug. Blaze agreed and they both got ready for bed. After they both got in bed, Silver reached over and turned off the lantern. The cave turned completely dark, with only a little moonlight shinning down at the opening of the cave from the moon. They could both feel the cold air surrounding them so they snuggled up in their blankets to keep themselves warm.
"Goodnight Blaze." Silver said as he closed his eyes.
"Goodnight Silver." Blaze yawned before closing her eyes as well.
Soon Silver and Blaze fell fast asleep, their minds still curious about what Chris will say and how Blaze was able to do what she did. Tomorrow they will find out.
