I was here. On Altea. The sworn guardian of Allura's little brother, Adrian.

Allura is 19 while Adrian is 17. I, however, am 16. My name is Kraskolrii, and I am a dragon.

I am bonded to another dragon named Apophis. It's not the kind of bond as with a mate. It's more of a friendship. It makes our powers stronger when we use them together. We both share an energy at birth, from our egg. Dragons have two main forms. They are born in pairs. One's main form is the traditional dragon form while the other one's main form is a hominid. So I guess we all have twins. No draco is born without a bonded draka.

It was our way of surviving Extinction long ago and now, a single child can't be born. Only pairs. Though triplets are very rare.

But, there are very special dragons in this universe also.

Usually when a Draco or Draka dies, the other dies too. But, there are very special pairs of dragons. Much different than the others. There are 5 of them. Earth, water, fire, and plasma. Those are the elements of the first four kamendas. The fifth, however, is stardust. Not actual stardust. But kind of.

The stardust kamenda is a power that allows then user to look into dreams, connect with spirits, and it also allows the user to create and destroy any inanimate object. As long as they have it pictured in their mind.

It also allows the user to manipulate the other elements. Everything is made out of the same cosmic dust after all, the star element allows the user to control it.

But just to be clear, a Draco and a Draka that is born from a kamenda are not related. They are reborn with the same energy that created them in their past life, but that is the only thing that is shared between them. A bond between a Draco and a Draka can be so strong they can fall in love, depending on how they died previously, whether they were apart, together, sacrificed, or mourned for the other to the point of suicide. But no matter what, the can never fully hate each other. That's what the bond is for. Or maybe that's just an extra quirk to it. Nobody knows. It's just the tradition of the dragons.

It's my tradition. And I honor it.

But I can't honor it as much as I used to. My home planet was taken over by the galra. They stole all of our riches, gems, diamonds, gold, silver.

But that's not what angered me most. They stole my bonded Draco, Apophis.
And now I don't know where he is.

But I know he's still alive and well. We can feel each other's pain. As long as it's physical. That's why one can't live without the other.

It's simply impossible. The only way that one can die but the other stays alive, is if the bond is cut off completely. It's very rare. No one knows how to do it exactly. Each time it's done, the one who broke the bond dies immediately. They usually do it out of self sacrifice. To save the other.

But I know that Apophis didn't disconnect our bond. I can still feel his energy. His life source.

But even if he did cut off our bond somehow, he can't be reborn until I return to our kamenda

It's just the way it is.

The way it's always been.

Most likely the way it always will be.

"Shoot" I said as a tear fell on the page of my journal.

"Watcha cryin' about?" I heard Adrian say behind me.

"I'm not crying. I just got dust in my eye."

"But your room is spotless."

"Can you just, drop it?"
