Lost Family
Jeff PriceI sat in my office at the Pyer Caves. It was peaceful here, I could hear the sounds of my men and women brewing beer outside my window. I heard the cold breeze sweep across the mountain tops.
I was documenting the latest sales, they weren't great, but they could be worse. We were prepping for a large shipment of rum to Baillieu City, apparently Josh wants the city fully stocked before winter hits.
I tried my best to stay composed and focused, where in the past the pirates were a group of plundering murderers, we were that no more.
I heard several knocks on my offices door.
"Come on in" I spoke.
Carter opened the door and he, along with another one of my men entered the office.
The man, his name was Spitfire walked right up to my desk, and looked at me with an slightly annoyed face.
"Was it you?" Spitfire asked me.
"Was what me?" I answered putting down my pen and looking up at him.
"The Elf Commanders" he began. "Did you kill them?"
I shook my head. "No, why would you assume"
He rolled his eyes. "Of course it wasn't"
"Pardon?" I asked.
"You have been following under Kiera's leadership since the war! I've been biting my time, waiting for things to change but it isn't! Your just like Griphook, your being a bitch!" Spitfire spoke and with that he turned and walked out of my office.
At first I thought it was childish, he called me a bitch and then walked out, but I get the effect he is going for. Still, I have done nothing but improve this community since I took over, especially after the war.
"Can you believe that guy?" I asked Carter.
"I agree with him" Carter spoke blankly.
"What?" I looked at him in confusion.
"Well, the pirates were all about adventure. We want to be against the law Jeff, you've gone soft over the years. Maybe it's time you step down as leader" Carter mumbled.
"Have you gone mad? How many people believe this?" I asked.
"Most of the crew, I've tried talking them out of it. But they really want to take you by force"
"By force? But why, wait. Why would they talk to you?" I asked him, the answer slapping me in the face.
"Carter-" I mumbled.
"I'm sick of hiding man. We used to have fun here and then-"
"That was wrong Carter, and you know it was" I spoke standing from my chair, outrage that he described what we did to those women as fun.
"But that's the point! We only live so long Jeff, we have to do the wrong things to feel now!" Carter joyfully put.
"You understand that the council will step in and put a end to it" I spoke to him firmly.
He shook his head.
"We would kill them if they came close Jeff! Do you not understand that, we pillage Sandlock-"
