The Supply Run
Alicia Green

My feet hurt, my legs were tired, I was thirsty from the long trek and yet I was still excited, and I wouldn't want to stop. Ahead of me was Michelle Skeleton, AKA Karma, beside her was Jorge, and together we were sent on a mission to provide recon on Max Withered's laboratory.

Karma and Jorge stopped at the top of a hill, which they crouched down by, Jorge looked back at me and placed a finger to his lips, as if to tell me to be quiet.

I crouched down and began to crawl up beside the two. We looked out into a clearing, and in it, all the way across a open field sat the concrete entrance to Max's Laboratory. I ducked down as two drones flew overhead at crazy speeds. Karma held a pair of binoculars and looked at the entrance to the Laboratory through it.

"Shit" She mumbled. "It's guarded"

I looked over to Jorge, who held a full automatic assault rifle in his hands.

"Could we fight through it? How many are there?" Jorge asked, Karma still looking at the bunker like structure through the binoculars.

"Wouldn't that attract drones?" I asked but they seemed to ignore me.

"Not many, but Ex Talon is among them. To risky with just the three of us" Karma explained, she lowered the binoculars and looked back at us.

"However the seal is still on the door, meaning they haven't gotten in yet. Must be scared of the possibility of traps"

"Are their traps?" I asked.

Karma shook her head. "Defense mechanism for chips, so sorta, but not much. Still the fact that they haven't even pushed means that the Creator expected more from Max" Karma spoke sadly, we all knew Max Withered never returned.

"However this proves that he wasn't chipped. If he was then they would know how to breach the structure. Not to mention the, ugh, special weapon Max had locked inside" Karma spoke awkwardly. I knew instantly that she was talking about Mason Skeleton, her son that was still inside, in a frozen pod.

This was probably the entire reason why she pushed so hard to do this mission.

"We should head back, report in what we saw" Karma spoke backing off and starting back down the hill.

Jorge and I quickly followed, I knew this was only a recon mission, but I'm still a little disappointed that this was it.

"What is the weapon?" Jorge asked.

"It's not a weapon for them, but a weapon for us. The drones the Creator is using is insanely similar to the ones Max designed. He built a hacking device to re-calibrate them should they get out of control." Karma explained, slowing down so Jorge and I could walk by her side.

"So we'd be able to control the drones?" Jorge asked.

Karma nodded. "Not all of us have given up on fighting back Jorge" Karma smiled.

Jorge nodded. "I never gave up Michelle, you know that"

Karma nodded. "I know, that's why I asked you to come with me"

"Why am I here?" I asked, curious as to why she demanded Jeff that I, a person without any real combat training to join her on this possibly dangerous mission.

"Because your a lot like your mother. Your gonna lead us to whatever it is we need to do. Max, Jayce and Kiera aren't here. Ryder is clearly in no place to do it, so I need you to know the plan" Karma explained plain and simply.

"Me? but-"

"Your not ready yet Alicia, but don't worry, when the time comes, you will be"
