Moonfall
Jayce SladeI felt like a prisoner, all of the guards that escorted us back were watching us. Both Cyblow and I followed Max closely. Should something happen, I wanted to make sure he would have my back. Natasha was ahead of us, leading us through the woods. We passed a gate and walked into a small village, completely apart of and also cloaked under the shade of the trees.
"Welcome to Nevermore Village" Natasha smiled, the guards separated, all but one who walked over to Natasha and rested her spear on the dirt.
"Are you sure you don't want me to escort you Ma'am?" The guard asked. Natasha waved the female soldier off.
"Don't worry about it Elaine, go on with duties that matter, these are our friends" The guard nodded, picked up her spear and glanced back in our direction before taking off.
"Annie are you okay. Will you tell us, that your okay-" Cyblow mumbled to himself dancing around a little bit. I glanced at Cyblow in confusion then looked over at Max.
"You think we're safe here?" I whispered, Max opened his mouth but Natasha must've overheard, since she answered for him.
"Jayce, I can perfectly say, you are safe" Natasha nodded and smiled. "Why? What's the problem?" She looked at me confused.
"Well you see-" I started but she held up her finger as if to stop me.
"Come with me, to my house. We will speak there where it's more private. Come on boys"
Natasha continued into the town of Nevermore, and the three of us followed her closely. Cyblow was still mumbling the words to the song he was listening to on his cassette tape. He started shuffling while he followed us down the road.
"You've been hit by! You've been struck by! A Smooth Criminal! WHOOO!" Cyblow shouted stopping and pointing to the sky.
"Yo! Micheal let's move!" I shouted to him, he looked at us as we walked away. He turned the music off and chased after us.
We continued to walk through the streets. It was a small village, no more than a couple hundred people. All the houses were closely placed together and the people here seemed generally happy. Or at least they did, one by one as we walked by them and they saw us, they began to look unhappy, some would gasp and faint murmurs spreading like wildfire. We turned left on the gravel path and stopped at a large fancy wooden house. Natasha opened the door and we walked inside, she closed the door and shouted.
"Samantha! I'm home!"
Instantly a little girl came running down the stairs from upstairs and stopped dead in her tracks when she saw us, she took a moment to look us over, then continued down the steps.
"Cool shades suit guy" The little girl smiled to Max, she ran over to her mother and Natasha picked her up.
"How was your day?" Natasha asked the little girl.
"Good, Thalia and I caught some butterflies in the fields. We found this field with wild mushrooms and David told us not to eat them"
"And what did you do?" Natasha asked.
Max, Cyblow and I started looking around the room, there were bookshelves all over this room, the entrance opened directly into a dining room, which had a large wooden table.
"Well, I ate it, I floated for a few seconds" Samantha spoke holding her fist out like a superhero.
Natasha put her daughter down. "Next time, listen to David, he knows better. Now, go play, I need to speak with these gentlemen"
