Coward Dies First

I sat on the lower bunk of the bed in my cell, it was late and the others were asleep, we were guard less, and from the sounds of it we are going to be getting a new prisoner. Suddenly the large iron door that is used on the entrance to the prison was swung open. Stepping into the cell was none other then Carter himself.

I rose to my feet.

"I figured you'd still be up" Carter spoke walking over to the outside of my cell. Still, everybody else was asleep. I noticed the bandage across his nose, I guess I must've broken it when I slammed his face off of the bars yesterday.

"How's your face?" I asked.

Carter smiled. "You deserve to be behind bars like this. It's sort of-"

"Shut up Carter" I said sharply, throwing him off.

"I can see it in your eyes, your feeling guilty for this shit and you know it"

Carter broke eye contact with me.

"I'm still confused about how you can see it right to side with the guy who killed billions of people" I asked backing off a little and pacing.

"You think your a saint? We know that Kiera has killed innocent people, and you yourself have raped dozens of women during your years as Captain. Have you ever wondered how many kids you probably have?"

"The difference between me and you is I knew it was wrong. I tried to reach out to those women, and I stopped. You never did" I spat at him. He shook his head slightly and gritted his teeth.

"I stood by Kiera because what she was doing was right, she was trying to build a future, a society for people to live in where our accidents don't matter! I'm sorry for not wanting to run away with you and blow shit up!" I shouted to him. I noticed Cassi was now awake in her cell, a few others were waking up to the sounds of Carter and I yelling.

Carter shrugged turning and walking down the hallway.

"Is that it?" I shouted. "You got nothing else to say for yourself?" Carter didn't answer, I knew he was coming down here to rub it in my face that he won. What he doesn't understand yet is that he hasn't.

"Your a coward Carter!" I shouted. He stopped and looked back at me, I could tell by the look on his face that he was hurting.

"You should've killed me in those woods!"

Carter just looked at me, speechless.

"You know what I think, I think you regret swapping sides. Through everything we went through you and I had each others backs, through the war, the zombie outbreak, the Church, Ryder, Griphook, The Fallen War and even this bullshit. I think now you don't like who your standing beside, because you know they don't got your back. Because of you one of us are going to die Carter. And I'm telling you right now, usually the Coward dies first!"

Carter pushes on, he starts leaving the prison again.

"I hope it was worth it!" I shouted. "All of this for a little adventure!"

I flexed my hands and a small ball of lightning cupped in the palm of my hand. I sat on a homemade wooden chair next to a wooden dining table in this little log cabin on the lake of the Fallen Dimension.

"Where are we again?" Daisy asked sitting across from me. She asked Seth and Ebow who stood nearby. Skylar was on watch outside of the cabin, Zade and Beatrice were sparring in the living room while Alicia had one of the Creator's drones on the dining table between us and was fiddling with it.
