The Solution
Daisy Pierson

Flashes of different lights, screams of agony, sounds of burning wood and sweet scents from my childhood snapped me awake in my bed, of course all of that was a dream.

Seth laid next to me in the bed, his arm around me as he looked down at me in concern.

"You alright Daisy? You were mumbling to yourself"

I pulled myself closer to him, I felt cold, and shook from the nightmare.

"I saw it again" I simply explained, replaying it in my head, being alone on the streets after my father died in the Fallen War. Watching other children starve to death as we avoided Kiera and the safety of the Blakwall Knights out of fear that they would kill us too. We were children of the City after all, we were ruled under Mayor Talon and Major Skeleton, told lies and believed that Kiera was the enemy.

"Charity and Shaun?" Seth asked.

I nodded, only slightly, the image of my father killing my mother, then Major Skeleton forcing me to kill her once she turned, it haunted me even to this day. Her last words to me was asking for forgiveness, saying that she wasn't strong enough. Then she told me that I'd be stronger then she ever was. I don't believe her.

"It'll be okay Daisy" he spoke trying to comfort me, I rolled my eyes and sat up in the bed.

"Don't say that Seth" I groaned. Seth sat up and looked at me, the softness in his eyes made me want to jump into his arms, but I knew what I was doing would only end in tears, staying with him would only end up with one of us getting hurt.

"I don't think we should- Seth- I-" Seth walked over across the bed on his knees to get to me, he placed his hand on my cheek and his forehead against mine.

"Daisy- Daisy it's alright" He wrapped his arm around me and we just sat there on our knees on the bed for a few moments before I spoke.

"Everyone who is close to me dies Seth, I- I don't want to lose you"

Seth laughed. "You realize breaking up is still losing me right?"

I hugged him tighter, he stopped chuckling and hugged me back, he could tell now just how serious I was.

"Listen Daisy, what we are doing is dangerous, but its as Alicia said, if we don't do something we will be stuck living in the cave for the rest of our lives." there was a moment of silence before Seth spoke up again, he looked at me eye to eye for this, to cement to me that he was serious.

"I love you. I'd rather be able to say that then die knowing I didn't get too" I kissed him.

...

After about a hour of Seth and I holding each other in the spare bedroom that Otis gave us in the bunker I got dressed and decided to go take a walk around the bunker, I wanted to see what everyone else was up too.

The hallways were white, dirty and covered in various carts and piles of supplies. I passed the armory where Alicia stood counting the weapons and ammo on a clipboard.

I passed it, and headed to what I believe was once some sort of break room, now it was a training ground. Otis and one of his larger men stood in the arena, bare fists up and ready to fight the two men across from them. It was Zade and Tyson.

"You don't want a piece of us my friend! My buddy here will kick your dwarf ass!" Zade shouted. Tyson's hands lit up in balls of electricity, he was getting pretty good and making focused balls of lightning and controlling them now.

"Well, we'll see about that lads! My old bones still have plenty of fighting left in 'em!" Otis shouted back. Seth entered the room behind me, wearing only a pair of jeans, holding two fresh apples in his hands, he handed one to me.
