Storm Hits
Ryder Slade"Weather is taking a turn" Beta spoke looking up at the sky as we made our way towards the Pyer Caves.
"For the worse?" I asked looking back to Beta.
He adjusted the bearded axe on his back and nodded.
"Yeah, might be the first winter storm"
"How far out are we from Pyer Caves?" Jorge asked Beta.
"another hour, not that far. We passed the checkpoint three hours back, I'm sure if we went faster we could get there in twenty" Beta spoke.
"Yeah about that, I've been thinking. Maybe it's best if Jorge heads back" Jeff spoke up.
"Why's that?" Jorge asked.
"Well-" Jeff started looking over at Jorge.
I nodded, understanding, a few years back Jorge left the Pirates to join us, I assumed he wouldn't be welcomed back with open arms.
"Maybe you should?" I asked Jorge.
He shook his head. "I need to face them, I'd have to do it at some point"
"Yeah, alright" I mumbled, resting my right hand on the gun by my side. I just wish Jorge knew that now, during a winter storm while they are threatening Mutiny might not be the best time.
Jeff exhaled.
"If Holly survived" Jeff started.
"Yeah?" Jorge asked.
"She had this way of getting in your face about the fact. She'd make you see it you know? If she were alive, maybe this wouldn't be happening, maybe you wouldn't have left" Jeff spoke looking over at Jorge with a warm smile.
Jorge shrugged.
"Maybe, but I didn't leave just because of the Crew's decisions Jeff, and you know it"
Jeff nodded looking back out in front of him.
"Yeah" he mumbled.
After a few moments of science I slapped the reins on my horse.
"Let's pick up the pace boys!" I shouted, my horse picking up speed and going into a full out sprint.
...
We arrived at the Pyer Caves as the snow started falling. It fell fast, and quick, the elevation of the Pyer Caves didn't help with the thickness of the snow.
It was a full out blizzard, and when we reached the top, it seems as if the Pirates weren't doing anything to save the produce or the ship from the snow.
"What the hell!" Jeff shouted jumping off his horse. He pointed at two drunk pirates and barked orders at them, then he continued to order the other groups of pirates around the outside of the Caves.
"Ryder, Jorge Beta! Get the horses inside!" Jeff shouted.
I nodded, jumping off my horse and grabbing the reins of both my own horse and Jeff's horse and leading towards the entrance to the Caves.
They had a large door to the Pyer Caves, four men were on it, waiting until everyone was inside to close the large door.
We secured the horses by tying them down.
Jeff waved his men inside after they finished tying down the ship and rolling the barrels of rum and alcohol inside the cave.
Jeff was the last to make it inside the cave, covered in a layer of snowflakes on his coat, he looked out to the blizzard, which was now a white mist that you couldn't see through.
