The One Man Army
Ex TalonI held a pair of binoculars in my hands as I looked down to the Dojo. Bobby sat there, wrapped in a blanket, still cuffed to the front porch shivering from the cold.
"There's another storm coming" Tyson commented pointing to a dark grouping of clouds rumbling in the distance.
East, Dexter, Tyson and I stood on the cliff side overlooking the Dojo. We were watching Bobby, and seeing if he was linked to the other chipped people. This way, we'd know what was safe to tell them, or if we could question one of them without the entire army showing up.
"If nobody has shown up yet, then nobody will" Dexter spoke rubbing his arms and blowing into his hands to keep himself warm.
"Patience Dexter. That's one of the things Shaun taught me" East spoke sadly looking out over the hills.
"You think they're dead?" Tyson asked East sadly.
I looked closer to Bobby and I noticed there was extra winter coats, along with food supplies in some of the buildings nearby.
"They haven't shown up yet. We have to assume the worst Tyson, either that or they've been chipped" East explained sadly.
"There's supplies down there" I spoke pointing to the huts.
"So? Bobby is down there, we can't risk it" Dexter commented.
"Like hell we can't, we need the supplies. Right now we're running on virtually nothing, besides Bobby is cuffed" I spoke handing the binoculars to Dexter.
"We do need them" East added.
"I ain't going down there man, forgot it" Dexter spoke.
"Coward" Tyson mumbled.
"Nah, it ain't fear, it's intelligence. You get stuck down there and the army shows up I'm sorry but your done for. If you get captured then you get chipped, and everyone back at the cave are sitting ducks for a sneak attack!"
"I could handle it" I spoke.
"So could I" Tyson agreed. I slapped Tyson on the back and smiled.
"The kid and I will go down and grab the gear. You guys stay here and radio us if you see anyone coming up the path okay?" I asked handing East one of the walkie talkies from my bag.
"Sure thing" East answered. Dexter drew his bow and loaded a arrow.
"We'll watch your back" Dexter spoke.
I led Tyson and I down the across the mountain to lower point near the back of the Dojo's main compound it was a cliff side, that wasn't as steep as the rest of the cliff. I jumped down and helped Tyson down with me.
We then walked over to the small buildings near Bobby.
"Grab only as much as you can carry" I ordered to Tyson.
Tyson took off into one of the houses and Bobby waved at me.
"I figured some of you would be lingering" Bobby spoke.
"Shut up" I ordered. I looked back to Tyson to see he has disappeared inside the house. The entire Dojo shook.
My walkie talkie went off.
"Ex! We have a problem! Get out of there!" East shouted over the radio
I heard a roar and a wall of flames lit the gate of the Dojo aflame. The gate toppled over and nearly two dozen armed soldier walked through.
I turned and ran behind one of the houses as the guards started looking through the Dojo.
Tyson stuck his head out of the window near me.
