Forever Alone?

Thirty

Abby’s Point of View

“You look really good in your bikini.” Shane murmured softly in my ear, making my face turn bright red. I buried my face in his chest. He pulled me closer to him, as we sat on the beach watching the sun go down.

“I can’t believe we’ll be seniors.” I said. “Finally! In a year we’ll be out of that hell hole!” Shane exclaimed. “Not me b*tches! I’ll be headed to university while you guys will be stuck in school!” James shouted fist pumping. Annie rolled her eyes, and shoved him into the salty water.

“Did you hear? Jenna’s pregnant. And she has no clue who the father is.” Annie said sitting across from me and Shane. And you could tell by the look on her face that she genuinely felt bad for her. I sighed wondering what happened to the old Jenna. “Well I wish her the best of luck…” I replied trailing off.

“Mmhm. So when are we tying the knot and popping out babies?” Shane said smirking. “What?” I exclaimed my eyes falling out of there sockets. “Calm down Abby I was only kidding…Maybe.” Shane added laughing. “Ha. Ha. You’re so funny.” I said punching his toned chest.

“Your mom would kill me before anything could happen anyway.” Shane grinned. I giggled remembering the morning after prom.

“So I’m guessing you and Abby have gotten jiggy with it?” James said doing a little provocative dance. I felt my face turn beat red again, and buried my face in Shane’s chest. “Dude no! Shut up!” Shane yelled throwing sand at him.

“Who wants to go to IHOP?” Annie asked already making her way to her brand new yellow mini cooper. “Me!” I responded, standing up and following her. My mouth was already watering thinking of the double chocolate chip pancakes.

As we waiting for our food, I couldn’t help but smile. Somehow I knew that no matter what everything was going to be okay. I was in a good place. I didn’t have my abusive dad. I had great friends. My mom. And best of all I had Shane. Me and Shane have been through a lot together, as friends and a couple. And as cheesy as it sounds, our relationship is not the titanic, it won’t sink.

“Remember how you used to say you were forever alone?” Annie asked, bringing me back to reality. “Yeah I remember.” I said smirking.

Shane swung his arm around my shoulder and whispered in my ear “You’ll never be forever alone.”
