Chapter Thirty-Seven

Nessa

I just got done with my Algebra homework. I still don't think that's fair giving me homework on my first day of school but it's what it it's. Right after I put my homework in my bookbag that Stubborn Ass Bitch (excuse my language) Lyric gonna stomped her way in to her room, BUT before she did that... she had the nerve to look inside my room and look at me DEAD IN MY FACE and roll her eyes. I'm just going to let that slide...FOR NOW! Oh My God, Lyric got my blood boiling right now. I need someone to talk to...Jacob! He's always a good person to talk when I'm mad like this.

Phone Conversation

"Hello." Jacob said sleepy.

"Um, hey Jacob." I said. I really didn't know how to start the conversation.

"Nessa what do you want?" Jacob sounded irritated.

"Nothing much, just wanted to chat with a friend." I smiled sitting on my bed.

"Then chat away." Jacob said. "And make it quick, I'm not supposed to be on my phone."

"Okay. So how you been doing? Any girlfriends I haven't meant yet? Tell me everything." I said happily.

"I know damn well you want to have more of an serious conversation." Jacob knows me too well.

"Well... there is one thing I would like to talk about." I sighed looking at the ceiling.

"What is it then?" I rolled my eyes. He better check his tone of voice.

"Remember that boy you walk in Chemistry class with." I said turning on my

stomach.

"Yeah, Rayan. What about him." Jacob said.

I literally stop breathing for a minute. Rayan...Rayan Lopez. Could it be him. I mean...I haven't seen him in seven years so he looks different.

"Nessa are you still there?"

"Uh yeah. Jacob...when you said Rayan. Did you mean by Rayan Lopez from 4th grade?" I was hoping he says yes.

"Yeah. Why what happened?" Jacob sounded worried.

"Nothing. It's just...damn. I can't believe that was Ray and I haven't noticed him." I heard Jacob sigh.

"Wow Nes...wow." Jacob sounded disappointed. "I can't believe you forgot Lyric and Rayan. That's sad. I'm sorry but if I was Lyric I would be mad at you too."

Jacob's right. It is kinda bad that I forgot about Lyric and now I forgot about Ray too. Damn I'm the worst Best Friend ever.

I felt guilty. "That's what I wanted to talk about. Even though I... kinda forgot about Ray has he forgotten about me too." I wouldn't mind if he did we'll be even then.

"Are you serious." Jacob laughed. "Bro, he never stops talking about you." I felt even more guilty.

"How so?" I asked.

"Nessa. On the first day of 5th grade this nigga...all day long. He was talking about how much cooler 5th grade would be if you was there." Jacob said.

"Aww, how sweet... tell me more." I said smiling.

"And on the first day of High School...bro he wouldn't shut the hell up. The worst thing about it was that I had all my classes with him, so it was like 'Nessa this and Nessa that and blah blah blah blah blah'." I could tell Jacob gotta a little irritated.

"You make it sounds like a bad thing." I said.

"It was! Nessa...you just had to be there. First he was complaining about you leaving then Craig leaving then back to you. It was just too much." Jacob sighed.

"Wait...Craig left. When was that? I thought Craig was supposed to stay here until he go's to college?"

"Yeah. In the 9th grade, Me, Ray, Cres, and Ail all somehow ended up at the same High School." Jacob paused. "Craig didn't come to our High School until February. He said he's staying at our High School but leaving at the 12th grade to go back to Philadelphia. Seems like his Mom or Dad lost their job and had to move back to Philadelphia early when we was in the 10th grade."

That's so not fair. I really wanted to see Craig too. I wonder if he still remembers me.

"Do you still got his number?" I questioned.

"No, I lost it." Jacob said, he sounded like he didn't care.

"How you loose it?" I asked.

"I was at a Pool Party and I was on the phone with my cousin, until someone push me into the water. Water damage my damn phone. I'm still getting people's numbers back again." I laughed at him.

I was silence on each others end of the call until I laughed again. "Jacob I'm sorry I just can't stop and think about how mad you were and still are about your phone."

"Ha ha ha. Well at least I didn't forget about my ex best friend and probably soon to be ex best friend." Jacob said coldly.

A tear left my right eye. Damn here comes my emotional side. "I gotta go Jacob." I said with a crack voice. I ended the call and laid my face on my pillow. I just started breathing heavily.

Jacob had to go there. Just because I laughed because his phone got water damage and lost all his contacts doesn't mean he had to mention me losing a friend and probably about to lose another one.
