Chapter Twenty-Seven

Nessa

"I'm going to miss you so much, Nessa." Ally said coloring a drawing.

"I'm going to miss you more." Jacob said smiling.

"I'm going to miss you both."

"Are you going to miss me, girlfriend?" Ray asked taking my yellow color.

"Of course, boyfriend." I smiled and Ray smiled back. Some of our friends at our table said 'aww' and smiled, while the others said 'eww' and stick their tongues out.

"Stop hating on our love." Ray walked over to me a hugged me.

Ail walked up to our table. "What love? Y'all little niggas to young for love."

"Ail stop saying bad words before I tell on you." Demi said.

"That's why nobody likes you. You're a snitch." Demi shrugged.

"My friends like me." Demi smiled.

"Yeah. For now." Ail took Ally's green crayon and went back to her table.

"Girl, you better get your crayon back." I told Ally.

She shook her head. "I don't care no more. I'm done coloring my picture." She stood up. "I was going to ask Mrs. MCcroy could I get on the computer anyways." Ally walked over to the teacher.

"Why are you leaving LA again?" Craig asked.

"Because my Grandpa is in the hospital and he needs a place to stay."

"Hope he gets better." Rayan said.

"Me too."

Later that day

"The pink power ranger is a boy!"

"Uh, I though it was girl."

"Right!"

"Just because its pink doesn't means its a girl."

"Yes it does, stupid!"

"No, not really."

"Raise your hand if you watch The Power Rangers."

Half of the class raised their hand.

"Nessa, you don't watch The Power Rangers?" Demi asked me.

"Nope."

"Why not?" Rayan asked.

"Because its stupid."

"Like you." Jacob said.

"You mean like you, because last time I checked I passed my spelling test." I said smiling.

Ally and this new boy, Elijah laughed.
Jacob walked over to me and gave me a high five. "Thanks for rubbing it in my face, buddy." I shrugged and laughed.

End of the day

It was time to go home. Some students were either; waiting for their ride, on the playground, talking to friends, or at the middle school building. Me, I was talking to Ray. All my other friends said their goodbyes to me and went home.

"How long are you staying at New York?" Ray said braiding my hair.

"Until my grandpa gets better I think."

"Do you even know anybody at New York?"

I stopped and think. "Uh...n- yeah I do!"

"What's that person name?"

"Lyric."

"Boy or girl?"

I turned my head and looked at Ray. "What kind of boy name is Lyric?"

Ray smiled. "A boy who likes boys."

"Gay?"

"Yeah that."

Me and Ray laughed. After Ray was done braiding my hair, my Mama pulled up.

She rolled the window down. "Hey Rayan."

Rayan waved. "Hey Ma #2."

She laughed. "Get in the car Nes."

I sighed and looked at Ray. "Give me a hug before I go."

Ray hugged me and whispered in my ear. "We have to brake up?"

I nod my head.

Ray pulled back and sighed. "...We still friends, right?"

"Duh." I smiled.

"Let's do our secret handshake one last time." Ray said.

We did our secret handshake and my Mama laughed.

"Its not a secret no more." I shrugged and got in the car. I rolled down my window down and waved at Ray.

"See you again if I come back." I said.

"You're coming back. I can feel it in my soul." Ray said smiling.

I smiled and said goodbye to Ray. I rolled my window up and sighed.

"You ready for New York, baby." Mama said driving off.

I looked out my window. "Yeah."
