Yes. No sweeter name. I don't know what else to call this chapter. At church last night, we sung a song called No Sweeter Name. It's a beautiful song, one I have known as long as I can remember. We sing it often, mostly on Wednesday nights as a worship song. Here is the chorus.
You are the life to my heart and my soul.
You are the light to the darkness around me.
You are the hope to the hopeless and broken.
You are the only truth and the way.
As I sang this song last night, I closed my eyes and imagined each line.
You are the life to my heart and my soul.
I imagine lying on the ground, lifeless, and seeing God come to me, pick me up, wrap me in His arms, and breathe His life into me. I come alive.
You are the light to the darkness around me.
Psalm 119:105 says, 'Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.' Even when I feel like I am in the darkest place, I can go to my God. I can say, Lord, lead my way. Guide my path. Hold my hand and guide me on the way you want me to go because I am so lost, and I know I can't make it alone.
I imagine God holding my hand in the darkness. I imagine Him leading me through the dark, and as we walk, light shines on the path. I can see again! I know where I am going. God is taking me on the path of righteousness!
You are the hope to the hopeless and broken.
I imagine, as God is leading me, He sees people who need His help desperately. He picks them up, dries their tears, holds their hand, and guides them on the path, just like He did with me.
Psalm 42:5 says, 'Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.'
Psalm 18:2-3 says, 'The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.' 'I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.'
Even when it seems there is no hope. Even when the enemy is surrounding you on all sides. Even when the pain is so heavy you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Cry out to God. 'Lord, I can't do this on my own! The burden is too heavy to bear. Cover me God. Guide me Lord.' He is your deliverer! Trust in Him.
You are the only truth and the way.
I imagine being surrounded by people, going in all different directions. I see people with faces of confusion, saying, 'Where am I? How did I get here? Where do I go now?' God is not the author of confusion, but of peace(1 Corinthians 14:33)! I look to my feet to see a clear path. I look up, and see Jesus at the end of the pathway. The only way to him. I imagine fences surrounding Him, so the only way to Him is to get on this path, the path of righteousness. I imagine running to Him, falling into His arms. He says, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant(Matthew 25:21,23).'
What do you imagine when you think of those words? As I write what I imagine, I can't help but get emotional about how good our God is. I hope this encouraged you. You are loved. You are cherished. You are not alone. God bless. <3
