"We don't meet people by accident they are meant to cross our paths for a reason."
"I gotta meet some new guys y'all..." I said to Piper and Joey while eating lunch at Arby's a few days later.
"Guys who didn't go to our school...or Luke's church. Matter of fact... no church boys at all please." I proclaimed. Our town is so small that every guy our age who lives here is someone I grew up with.
"My cousin Ryan is having a house party tonight. He just text me a little bit ago, supposed to be poppin'!" Joey said getting excited.
"Ryan's having a party? Why are you just now bringing this up?" I questioned him sarcastically.
Ryan is Joeys cousin, they look so much alike it's eerie plus he's just a sweet as Joey. Ryan's a year older than us and just finished his first year playing football at Texas Tech. He went to high school in the town over which means a lot of guys that I don't know!
"House Party baby!!" I said getting just as excited as Joey.
For a night of drinking I chose comfort over beauty and showed up to Piper's house in a royal blue t-shirt that said "textually active" in yellow letters, blue jean cut-off shorts and my trusty black Old Navy flip flops.
"I hope you're borrowing one of my shirts Rylee girl... I thought we were trying to find you a man. Where's the cleavage?" She questioned as soon as she opened the door wearing a low-cut halter and a skirt.
"Whaaat?? I thought I looked cute!" I defended.
"You're impossible... whatever. Let's go." She huffed walking out the door with Joey trailing behind her.
"What up!!" Joey yelled to everyone as we walked in. Joey loves two things. Piper and Parties. You'd think with an alcoholic mom he'd stay away but he tends to think he's invincible to alcoholism. I'll give it to him though, he's still responsible when it comes to his brother Jake and will him spend the night at their elderly neighbors house who have always been like 'grandparents' to them.
Joey went around the room giving bro hugs to all the guys. Piper walked up and hugged Ryan.
"You remember my best friend Rylee?" She said to the Joey look alike.
"Of course! Rylee girl!! It's been forever!! " He gave me a big bear hug. "I heard you just got dumped." He said being overly sympathetic.
"Gee...thanks for bringing that up ya jerk! I'm good though. Where's the beer?" I said.
"This way ladies." Ryan gestured to the kitchen.
Joey had already found his way in there.
"Take it slow tonight please. I don't want to be babysitting your ass all night. Rylee girl needs me." Piper snipped at Joey.
"Yeah, yeah" Joey replied rolling his eyes while walking out.
"What the--? What was that about?" I asked Piper curiously.
"He's just moody." She answered handing me a beer.
"Now... let's go find you a man!" She grabbed my arm and led me out of the kitchen.
"Let's dance!" Piper said excitedly.
"Noo...no! I'm trying to lure a man in not scare him away, remember?" I joked.
"Drink." Piper yelled over the loud music.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"Drink!!" Piper yelled shoving my beer into my mouth.
