I splashed my face with cold water, took a few deep breaths and walked back to the waiting room. Tiffany was the only one sitting there.

"Where's Ryan?" I asked her.

"Um. Piper woke up or something. I was supposed to tell you when you came back from your quickie." She said snottily.

"Why are you here? Why the fuck are you still here? Seriously? Ryan's good. He doesn't need you here. You can leave." I got in her face.

"Don't be jealous because he wants to fuck me and not you anymore Rylee. That's really unbecoming. You should be worrying about your friends right now." She replied.

"I can't... I can't deal with you..." I said and walked away to the recovery room they had Piper in.

"Hey sunshine..." I said walking into her room, seeing her awake talking to Ryan. She looked at me tiredly and smiled.

"Rylee girl..." She said weakly.

"How are you feeling?" I asked her.

She began to sob.

"Oh Piper." I said running to her bed hugging her as best as I could.

"I... I lost they baby..." She cried.

"I know honey. I'm so sorry Pipes..." I said rubbing her head starting to cry with her.

"And the love of my life is in surgery and has to re-learn how to walk... Why did this happen to us?" She asked no one.

"What did happen?" I asked her. "Ryan said you and Joey were fighting."

She began to cry again.

"Joey..." She started but couldn't continue from crying so hard.

"Joey cheated on me." She finished through her sobs. I couldn't believe my ears. There's no way. She must've been misinformed.

"Wha... How? What do you mean?" I said stunned and looked over at Ryan. He had the same stunned reaction.

"At the party last night... He told me some girl cornered him, kissed him and tried to undo his pants. " She said getting more angry than sad now.

Ryan and I both just looked at her waiting for her to continue.

"He said it happened so fast he didn't even know what was going on and when he realized it, he got her off of him." Piper finished.

"Holy shit..." I whispered.

"Sooo... He didn't technically cheat..." Ryan said putting his foot in his mouth.

Piper gave him the worst look I'd ever seen and said, "This girl kissing Joey is the reason I lost my baby and his legs are broken. It doesn't matter what it technically is, Ryan. It just changed my whole life." She replied.

"You're right Piper. I'm sorry. It's my fault too. I never should've let Joey go. I knew he wasn't okay to drive. I'm so sorry." Ryan said walking up to Pipers bed and holding her hand.

"Ry... You and I both know you wouldn't have been able to stop him. Please don't blame yourself. It's not your fault... at all." She told him squeezing his hand.

Just then the nurse walked in.

"Joeys out of surgery. Everything went great. It's going to be a lot of physical therapy and a very long recovery, but he's going to be fine in time." She said cheerfully.
