"Even if I still wanted him to walk me down the aisle, he probably wouldn't. He's with god knows what women now." Holly sighed and stared up at the hotel room ceiling.
Angus gave her a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry Holl. You don't have to invite him if you don't want y'know. If you don't feel right about it."
Holly sighed. "It's wrong to hold a grudge isn't it? If you held one, I don't think I'd have this engagement ring on my finger right now."
"I guess it's...different."
"No, it's not. I'm not any better than he is after all. I left you just like he left my mom."
"You left me to take care of your friend. He left you guys..well I don't know why, but I'd bet on a whole lot of money that it wasn't for a good reason. You can't compare yourself to him."
"I know but..we'd both end up begging for forgiveness sometime anyways. If you forgave me, maybe I should forgive him."
"Well I'm not going to stop you. But I don't want to raise your expectations y'know? Don't go thinking he's gonna become some sort of hero for you."
"Yeah I get that. But I have to try. It's been years. He's young enough to still be able to change."
Holly had thought long and hard about that specific conversation. When Angus had left, the phone seemed to be calling her. She'd gotten his number from one of his former friends.
She could barley managed to respond to the casual "hello" that was said on the other side of the phone call.
