I sulk and drown within my own sorrow
I cannot tell if I will make it to see tomorrow
I try to bypass, to lie and to stall
You wade right through, you know it allYou see right through the gray and the blue
I give you a wink and you know what to do
Nothing ever gets past your watchful eye
You ask and I acquiesce with a sigh
I'm
Your soft voice washes away my fears
I try to play coy but I am too far endeared
I give it all up as you open the valve
Your presence is a comfort, your care a salveYou have altered the way that I think
What once was weakness now is strength
You sit quiet and nod your head
Perhaps if not for you, I would be deadMy true gratitude I cannot express
You sit patiently and listen while I confess
The kindness I've reaped, I did not sew
You lessen the pain endured from life's blowsKnow that you should never rue and regret
That cool morning when you and I met
You may think I'm drowning in my despair
But you've bailed the ship and given me air
