~6 Months Later~
Megan P.O.V.
Things have been pretty peaceful since the Cell games. Krillin and the others had used the dragon balls to bring back Trunks and 18, well everyone who was killed by Cell. After all that, everyone went their separate ways.
Now, I’m as big as a ship. Well, not exactly, but I’m huge. The due date is a month from now and Rosie had decided to throw me a huge baby shower. Her and Bulma had gotten together and decided that the party would be at Capsule Corp today around noon. They wouldn’t tell me who all was going to be there or any of the details. Everything else is a surprise.
“How are you feeling?” Rosie passed by me at the kitchen table, where I was happily eating hamburgers and a milkshake. “Again for breakfast? I’m not sure that’s healthy.” The straw made a slurping noise as I sipped the last bit of chocolate syrup out of it. “Don’t judge me. I eat what my baby wants.” Rosie opened a cabinet and took out a bag of coffee. “Yeah sure, the baby wants it, she says.”
I scooted my chair back far enough away from the table so I could maneuver my big belly around it. “Let me help.” I put my hand up to her and shook my head. “I got this.” It had been a challenge to do even the smallest of things. Even putting on my shoes had become a problem. I finally managed to stand with a sigh of relief as I grabbed the dirty dishes and put them in the sink.
Though, it’s not even dealing with the little things such as putting on my shoes was a challenge. The fact that I was alone in my pregnancy was the biggest problem. Of course, Rosie, and occasionally Piccolo, helped throughout the whole process. I am grateful for both. If they weren’t here, I really don’t know where I would be by now. “When is the party again?” I turned on the sink and cleaned whatever dishes that were in there. “In a few hours. Which reminds me! I made you an outfit for your special day. It’s on your bed.”
“It’s not a frilly pink dress, is it?” I cringed at the thought of wearing something horrible…again. “No! I designed it with your style in mind. And I may or may not have put a special something on there.” Rosie nudged me to the side of the sink with a smile. “I can take care of this. You go get ready and call me when you get done. I’m doing your hair and makeup today.” I couldn’t the help the smile on my face. “Thanks Ro, I really appreciate it.”
Slowly but surely, I made it to my room, reaching for the doorknob. Once I turned the knob and opened the door, I saw the dress laid out on my bed that Rosie had made for me. It was a beautiful royal blue color with short sleeves. The dress itself looked long enough to reach the ground. I picked the dress up and I was surprised by how soft it was. Right below the neck line on the left side of the dress, there was a marking that brought a tear to my eye.
It was the same symbol that was the necklace my mother gave to me when I was a baby. The Kanji symbol on it stood for strong, something my mother told me every day. “Be strong, little one…” Her voice echoed in my head as I traced the fabric with my thumb.
I placed the dress back down on the bed and went to try to remove the clothing I was wearing. Getting my clothes off was no problem, well except for the pants. It took sitting down a couple of times before they were successfully off. I picked up the dress once more and put it on. Just as I thought, the dress barely reached the floor because of my bump. Though it did have a small slit on one side so walking should be a breeze in it.
“Rosie! I’m dressed!” It didn’t take long for my friend to enter my room, already dressed and ready to go. “Did it really take me that long to get dressed?” I joked as she playfully slapped my arm. “Hey, it doesn’t take me that long to get ready.” I waved my hand as I sat down in my chair in front of my vanity. “Do what you gotta do.” I handed her my brush over my shoulder. “Alright, time for my work out.”
It took a bit of time for Rosie to brush the long locks of my hair. As she was fixing my hair into an elegant bun, I stared at myself in the mirror, watching her from time to time.
Rosie and I don’t typically keep secrets from each other. We tell each other everything. Deep down, I felt guilty because I had discovered something a few months ago. I’ve kept it a secret from everyone but, I wanted it to be a surprise until the birth.
“What do you think?” Rosie stood back with her hands on her hips, proud of her work. “I love it.” I smiled as I turned my head to get a good view of her work. “If you don’t mind, I really don’t want any makeup on my face today. I want to be as natural looking as possible.” Rosie opened her mouth to protest but quickly closed it with a small smile. “Yes ma’am.” I stood up from the chair, wobbling a bit until I stood up straight.
“Have you heard anything about…him?” I looked at her sheepishly. Rosie shook her head with a sigh. “I’m sorry I haven’t. The last I heard he was training at Bulma's place, but he left a month ago.” I nodded my head, mumbling, “I see…” Rosie put her hand on my shoulder. “Don’t worry about him. Your future is right here.” She pointed to my bulging stomach. “Piccolo and I will help you every step of the way.”
“You two are still not ready yet?” Piccolo stood by the door frame with his arms crossed. “Oh Kami we are going to be late!” Rosie looked at the clock and grabbed my wrist. “You go outside and wait for the car. And you!” Rosie quickly pointed to Piccolo. “You're in charge of grabbing the presents! Let’s move it people we have a baby shower to get to!” Rosie ran out of the room while Piccolo and I looked at her with a sweat drop.
