Chapter 9

Finn

So it’s Friday night already and I’m on my way to Rachel's gig. The only problem is that I have to pick Quinn up. I’m not sure what’s going on with her but she had been totally clingy lately. Before she didn’t really care if I didn’t show for lunch it was like a silent agreement that we were two people who didn’t have anyone else to sit with so we’d sit with each other. The truth is we never really socialise outside of school either so that’s why I find it strange that she would agree to us both going to Rachel's gig. 

I talked to Puck this afternoon and he seemed concerned that I was bringing Quinn. I know Puck doesn’t really like her, and Santana hates her but what am I supposed to do. Puck mentioned something about certain people getting the idea that Quinn is my girlfriend, I wonder who would think that? 

I pull up at Quinn's place and beep the horn. It doesn’t take long for her to come out of the house and I’m even more surprised when she does. She’s wearing the shortest skirt I have ever seen along with a very tight light blue tank top that doesn’t leave much to the imagination. I mean this is the way she used to dress all the time but lately she opts for jeans and t-shirts. 

‘Hi Finn’ she smiles when she gets in the car. 

‘Hey’ I reply being careful to keep my eyes up, the minute I look down I know I’m going to get more than an eyeful of something that I don’t want to see. 

‘Thanks for taking me out tonight’ she says then which confuses me a little, it’s not like I really had a choice I thought. ‘You look nice’ she tells me. 

‘Thanks’ I reply. I know I was supposed to tell her how nice she looks but like I said I’m a terrible liar so I’m not going to even try. 

Kurt is coming tonight too but he got a ride with Rachel saying something about wanting to help set up which I know is a lie. Kurt has always had a thing for Blaine Anderson and I know he just wanted an excuse to see him. 

‘So tonight should be good’ she says. 

‘Yeah they’re a great band. Rachel has the most amazing voice’ I tell her. 

I see her nose scrunch up the comment and I’m a little confused. Why is she coming if she doesn’t like the band? 

By this stage we have made it to the velvet dog where they are playing and I jump out of the car. Quinn seems to be sitting there waiting for something and I’m starting to get impatient, we’re already running late and I can hear they’ve started. 

‘Geez Finn where are your manners’ she says then in a huff finally getting out of the car. 

I look at her confused ‘You could of helped me out of the car’ she says then. For the first time during my friendship with Quinn I’m actually starting to feel uncomfortable. I realise now the looks she’s been giving me, the way she carried on at lunch the other day were all sighs that she’s worried. Worried that she’s loosing her only friend. 

‘Come on’ I tell her and we walk into the club .

Oh god I must have a finn-radar, how pathetic. The minute he walked into the room I knew he was there and what makes it worse is that Quinn is by his side. What the hell is she wearing though? He looks very good tonight, I can’t take my eyes of him. He has a on black button down shirt which is clinging to his muscles, what I wouldn’t give to be able to rip is off his body I think. Luckily for me right now Santana is singing so I only have to worry about the back up vocals. 

When the song ends I get ready to sing the new song that has been written for me. 

‘Hey everyone’ I say into the microphone and smile when they all cheer back. 

‘Well for those of you who haven’t seen us play before we’re Flammable. I’m Rachel, on lead guitar is Santana, Base Blaine and on drums’ I wait for Puck to do his little drum roll ‘Is Puck’ 

The crowd all cheer again then. ‘So tonight I have something special for you all’ I tell them. ‘As most of you know we haven’t started doing our own music yet but someone has written a song for me to sing for you. So here it is. Guys grab your girls this one will be worth it’ I tell the crowd and I cant help but meet Finn's eyes. He looking straight back at me too I also notice happily that he hasn’t asked Quinn to dance.

And I don’t know why but I cant take my eyes of him as I sing, and for the first time I allow myself to hope that the person writing these songs for me knows exactly how I feel.

We sing another dozen or songs before allowing the DJ to take over the party. It’s been a good night and we had a pretty good turn out so I couldn’t be happier. So right now I’m going to go and ask a boy to dance. 

I’m just about to jump off the stage when I see it though and my body refuses to move, I never knew that something could hurt so badly. Quinn Fabray has just risen up on her tippee toes and planted a very girlfriend like kiss on Finn. All I want to do is cry right now but I wont do that in front of these people because that’s just not my style. 

‘Um you guys right if I head’ I ask Santana. 

‘What’s wrong?’ she asks me concerned. I cant fool her she knows I’m on the verge of tears and all I can do is point to the middle of the room where I assume Finn And Quinn are still locked up in their passionate kiss. 

‘I’ll see you tomorrow’ I tell her before quickly grabbing my bag and fleeing the velvet dog.
