Some more smut to put a point in character developments. Let's get it going. As per usual, I will give the signal for when to skip if you just want the development.
Nathanial's POV
I can't believe it. I just can't believe it. This isn't supposed to happen. Mates aren't supposed to be like this! I know that mates have the capacity to cheat, but my god, there has to be some semblance of an explanation for why anyone would do this. I hear the click of the front door. I don't turn around, but I know he's there. Time for the moment of truth.
"Well?", I begin, trying to get us rolling so that we aren't here all day.
"Nathan, please, believe me, I did not do this on purpose. It was not my intention to go out seeking anyone that day."
"Then what the fuck is your dick doing in this sluts ass!"
Man, I have really changed these past few years. Me and Val have been having more and more fights on a regular basis that it's become exhausting, yet here we are, with me trying to listen to him explain how you fuck someone by accident.
"Okay, you want the truth?!"
"Yes, but am I gonna get the truth? Or a bullshit excuse?!"
"I didn't mean to! I can't remember anything from the night. I implore you, look into my head."
"I do NOT want first-hand experience from the mind who has no qualms about breaking monogamy without at least having the decency that you don't want to be with someone that way anymore!"
"I wish I could tell you exactly what happened, but I have not any real clue what happened that night. Look into my mind and not only will you find a cap where it should be, but check with him. He'd vouch for me!"
With a sigh, I reach out with my wolf to his. Though my wolf is wary, it establishes contact and I look through the mind of my beloved mate. Sure enough, whenever I think of events that happened the day he went with this person, all I get are weird blurry visions of a bar, a drink in his hand. Then darkness. Asking his wolf what it remembers, the most it could recall is a new version of Val's favorite drink, the smell of an Omega that is intoxicatingly sweet, the smell of way too much cologne, and other meaningless things. The only thing I'd notice that it can remember is that smell of the Omega, making it known that indeed that Omega was real and he did probably go through with what that video showed. I detected no hint of sexual intent, but I couldn't possibly know if he is hiding something beneath the surface or if I'm looking for something that isn't there. What thing is for sure, he did indeed cheat on me.
"Do you believe me?"
"How can I not? I'm glad I didn't see anything I didn't want to, but that only leaves more questions."
"Questions?"
"Yes, such as: Where were you today? What do you do on Fridays? Who sent me this video? And what does it mean?"
"You still don't trust me?"
"Of course I don't trust you! I don't know what happened here? For all I know, your wolf was acting on its instinct from raw desires deep down!"
The look he expresses is definitely one that tells me that that hurt, but I can't be bothered to care at this moment or any other moment. My life has been going in a crazy spinning ride and I want off, but unfortunately, I have to live with the many things going to crap. My job is in jeopardy by some newbie who has too much prominence on his sights, my mother has grown ill and needs someone to care for her, everybody in town has been spreading rumors of me and the Alpha having an affair, and now, my mate cheated on me and we have no explanation as to why him blacking out could make him stay functional or whether he has a condition we should keep an eye on. And this all on top of our mating to be an absolute joke, with us always fighting, his temper always getting out of hand, and his constant secrets that he doesn't think I could handle.
