Aaron Hotchner's POV
We let Kaleigh leave. She was questioned for 3 hours and when she finally got to leave the room, Alison freaking Barclay ruins it. She's been through a lot!
We only know what happened when she woke up. When she did wake up the first thing she saw was her best friend gagged and tied up.
How the hell could she have saved her? Kaleigh didn't know when they'd come back, it could have been minutes or hours. I would have done the same thing.
"Hotch?" Reid asked snapping me out of my little rant
"Yeah?" I asked looking at him.
"What time should we have Kaleigh back in tomorrow?" Reid asked as he stood behind the chair he was formally sitting in. Kaleigh's parents were standing right behind him.
"Uhm how about 3 and we'll keep her for two hours. Is that okay?" I asked directing my question towards them.
Marlene nodded vigorously and Ben nodded at a slower pace.
I stood up with Reid and followed the family of 3 out.
They were pretty close to the door when Kaleigh suddenly halted and stated at the wall. Looking at it I saw coffee splatter that almost looked like blood splatter. It took me a minute to figure out why she was staring at it. My eyes widened and I glanced at Reid who had definitely already caught on.
Next thing we all know is Kaleigh started shaking so badly. It looked like she just couldn't keep control of her body, but the entire time she never took her eyes off of the splatter.
The whole station went chaotic, including Avery's parents.
"Pull her away from it!" I screamed to be heard over the noise.
Sure enough Ben grabbed Kaleigh's wrist and dragged her closer toward the door with Marlene froze into spot.
Kaleigh stopped shaking and the whole station went from a bunch of howling monkeys to twitching bunny rabbits. All eyes were over on her and her father.
Ben narrowed his eyes at the room muttered something that was barely audible from where I was standing but he said "You've had enough for one day."
With that he dragged Kaleigh out of the station and into their car.
Reid walked up behind Mrs. Matthews and put a hand on her shoulder as conversation started back up again.
She turned a little and saw the both of us and her eyes read "Don't make me bring her in tomorrow please!"
"I'm going to have this cleaned tomorrow. I don't want to see Kaleigh here until 2:30 on Thursday." I said with authority. Thursday was the day free tomorrow so that would give her time with her mom and dad.
"Thank you" Marlene said quietly and walked out the double doors.
After she had walked far enough from the station to here I turned around with anger flaring in my eyes.
"I DON'T KNOW WHO THE HELL DID THAT TO THE WALL, BUT I WANT IT CLEANED UP TOMORROW! NO IF'S, AND's, OR BUT's!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.
I knew I shouldn't have taken out my anger on them. None of them couldn't have none unless they were watching the interrogation, which I know no one was.
All stood with large eyes and major frowns. One of the cops in the front looked to be on the brink if tears. I'm supposing she's new and doesn't know what it's like to get yelled at even if it wasn't directly toward her.
"Nod yes." I demanded.
Soon enough they were all nodding and the cop who almost cried is defiantly nodding her head the fastest.
She looks fast with reflexes. I bet she gets whiplash if she turns around too fast.
After doing a little stare, I began to walk down the hallway to the room where we were set up.
------------
Thursday:
Thursday came rolling around pretty quickly. The splatter was cleaned up early yesterday morning before I got in. It was painted over, thankfully in the correct shade.
Officers stared as I was walked past. I never made eye contact with any of them as I walked past and right into the conference room we invaded.
Reid was the only one in there when I arrived.
"Kaleigh will be here soon."
Glancing up at the clock hung on the wall I noticed it said it read 2:00.
I sat down in a chair at the table across from Reid and turned my head to look at the board that we've pinned everything to.
Kaleigh's picture sat up there along with Avery, pictures of the car, the parking lot, and the apartment that Kaleigh was in when she ran away.
I don't know what to do about any of this.
No one has heard from the kidnappers. It's been depressing.
*beep beep*
My phone began vibrated and beeping loudly. I fished it out of my pocket but it was unknown number. After clicking decline the room was sent back into silence.
*beep beep*
Looking back down at my phone which was now seated on the table among the other papers, a voicemail popped up from the unknown number. I sighed and swiped it open so that I could see what the message says.
"Good afternoon Agent Hotchner." a deep obviously autotuned ovice came through. Sitting up staughter I leaned into listen as did Reid. "I know that you are looking for Avery and Kaleigh hasn't given you any leads. You declined to talk to me. I'll call back later. If you don't answer. Game over. Further instructions will be given if you answer. See you soon, Agent Hotchner" There was a click and the call was over.
I looked over at Reid and out eyes said the same thing.
"Dammit" I muttered.
