Kaleigh's POV
They finished the first part of the interrogation quickly. I was allowed to walk out to get some food and water.
As I walked out I heard wailing. It couldn't be my parents. They already came and cried and hugged me and tried not to let me go.
"How did Kaleigh escape but not Avery?" I heard Mrs. Barclay say between sobs.
I tried to walk past without being noticed.
I walked with my head down and made my way to the counter where the refreshments are.
I grabbed a plate and picked up a bagel. After spreading the cream cheese on it, I set it down to grab and grabbed a water bottle. A sign to my right directed me to another room where tables and chairs were set up. 2 police officers sat at a table in the center and didn't even bother to acknowledge my presence as I walked in.
I made my way to the back of the room sat down. The officers started laughing loudly and at first I thought it was toward me. They didn't even bother to look up when I walked in. I then realized they were on their phones.
The cops looked young. Maybe pushing early 30's. Normally people in general love to stare at someone who had made the news, but maybe they were trained not to ask questions or make me feel uncomfortable. Which is fine by me.
I looked down at my plate and saw my untouched bagel. Slowly I began picking away at it. Honestly I couldn't think of the last time I ate. All these questions and people are just making my mind slush. I don't even know how I'm answering these questions.
I was about halfway through the top side of the bagel when the cops abruptly got up and walked out. They didn't even bother throwing their trash away. Leaving it for the janitors to clean up. Not right. I quickly devoured the rest of the bagel and drank the rest of the water. I threw away my plate and their plates.
Quickly I walked out. I didn't even bother putting my head down, but I soon regretted it.
"Kaleigh!" Mrs. Barclay yelled across the room.
I froze and looked up. Mrs. Barclay was standing with Mr. Barclay at her side. Her eyes were filled with anger and you could practically see the smoke coming from her ears.
All conversation in the room ceased. Everyone person in the rooms had eyes on me.
I could feel my cheeks heat up as I had a little stare off with Avery's asshole of a mother.
"Run Kaleigh. Go now before she yells at you." The little voice in my head told me
Instinct took hold of me. I bolted toward the hallway that led to the interrogation room I was in.
"Kaleigh!" Mrs. Barclay shouted followed by pounding footsteps.
From there everything erupted to chaos. Officers were trying to hold her back. Mr. Barclay was trying to get the officers to leave his wife alone which erupted in screaming from him. And then there were officers trying to calm him down. It was almost like a mad brawl.
I walked quickly down the hallway and past my parents into the room.
Reid looked up and said "You're back quite fast."
Laughing nervously I said "Eh well satan decided to rain fury on all the people in the room where all the cops sit."
Hotchner and Reid looked up at me and started laughing hysterically.
"Why are you guys laughing?" I asked offended.
"Normally people in interrogation or in their right mind, don't call Mrs. Barclay satan even though it's very accurate." Hotchner said
"Never liked her. I mean she probably wouldn't have even asked if I was okay. The conversation would have been more of "why the hell didn't you save my daughter."" I said
"Speaking of the people that made Avery. Let's talk about that." Reid said quickly changing the subject.
I sat down in the chair across from them.
Looking at his notes Hotchner asked "What were the Barclays like?"
"Well as I said before Allison is an ass. Jonathan is pretty nice. He's down to earth. When I'm over he asks if I need anything, want some food, jokes around with me. You know, like a second father. It's like he isn't a CEO of a major bank at home. Although it's hard to forget if you live in a big house like that." I replied
"I see" Reid said scrunching his eyebrows making notes.
The whole interrogation went like that. Tomorrow I would be back in for more but I'd had enough for today. 3 total hours. I have this feeling tomorrow we'll be getting to the emotional stuff.
As I was walking out to the car so we could go to the hotel my parents are staying at, I noticed a coffee spatter on the wall.
"The ceiling had blood spattered all over it."
Then like that I started shaking. I couldn't control my body.
My dad pulled me toward the door and once the splatter was out of sight I stopped shaking.
Stunned I racked my brain for any possibility as to what just happened. Then like that. BINGO!
Post traumatic stress disorder.
Seems like everyone in the room realized that.
Dad tugged on my arm and said "You've had enough for one day."
