Avery's POV-

I've been sitting in this basement for multiple days. Hayden has been coming down and checking on me periodically. John hasn't been down in multiple days. From down here I hear his screaming. He throws things. Stomps his feet on the floor. Definitely has an anger problem. But he doesn't come down and bring that onto me.

For that I'm glad. I don't think I could survive if he came down here and smacked me whenever he got pissed off about something.

"I'm going downstairs to check on the girl." I heard a deep voice say after opening the door.

Feet padded against the floor as the man carried his feet down the stairs. I was half asleep and at first thought Hayden was coming. I was going to ask for breakfast. By breakfast I mean a cup of water and leftover food from last nights dinner. Sometimes it's takeout and other times it's leftover food. It was never leftover meals from restaurants.

John was the only one that went to the restaurants and from what Hayden has mumbled, it sounds like John brings home some girls to woohoo. Kinda disgusting and bold. Disgusting in the fact I have to think of that asshole actually getting a girl and bold being that there was a girl sitting in his basement and could scream at any minute.

        I shivered at that thought.

"Hello Avery" The voice from earlier said.

I looked up and saw John standing there with a grin on his face. His hair was disheveled and he was still wearing his pajamas.

"Hi?" I said, but it came out more as a question.

"Haven't seen ya in a while. You doing okay down here?" He asked

Looking him deadly in the eye, I nodded.

"I'm assuming you are not much of a talker. In that case, I'm going to ask what you want and then leave you alone. Hayden won't be down today. He's a little....... Busy?" The last part came out as a question.

        "Water is fine." I said

"Alright." With that John turned and left

As soon as he was upstairs away from me, I sighed with relief. He seems nice enough right now, but by the time he comes back he'll probably be in a major mood.

The door creaked open again and John quickly descended down the stairs.

Once rounding the corner he tossed a water bottle over but had something else in his opposite hand. I caught the water bottle with ease and studied the object in his hand.

There was a square right plate and on top of it there was a muffin. It looked to be either blueberry or chocolate chip. Maybe half and half.

"I brought a treat," He said wickedly, "but there is a catch."

He paused waiting for my response. When nothing came from my mouth he continued, "I want to know everything Hayden has told you."

On the inside, I was having a mental breakdown. If I actually tell him what Hayden has said, there is a possibility that he could kill him. However I'm pretty good at lying. I hate to admit it but I lie to my parents all the time.

"He told me that if I try to escape that he'll find me and make me pay for what I've done and that's it." I said.

John studied my face. At first I thought he would see right through me. Then he set the plate down.
