*Natalie's POV
"Right there," Archie pointed to the house. "We could stay there for tonight." I knew he was tired of walking, hell I was too.
"No Archie." I sighed. "Let's just keep going for a bit more, okay?"
"Nat, come on."
"Fine," I gave in. "Just one night."
"Deal," Archie had a big smile on his face.
I rolled my eyes as we began to walk up to the house.
"You're trespassing." I heard the cock of a gun. "Now, let's see you do a little turn, nice and slow." I glared at Archie and slowly turned around.
"Who are you?" Another girl walked up behind the little girl that was pointing the gun at us.
"I'm Stassie and this is Biff." I answered. "From Centerville."
"I don't like liars." The older girl crossed her arms. "Shoot 'em Gracie." She ordered.
"Wait! Wait." Archie exclaimed. "We got robbed on a train. They took all out money. We've been walking for days. We're just looking for some food and some water, and we'll be on our way." Archie lied.
"Put the rifle down," the girl ordered.
"I don't trust them." The little girl glared at us still not following orders.
"Do as I say." She barked making the little girl finally listen. "I'm Laurie Lake," she introduced herself. "This is Gracie. You two like stew?"
We sat outside in the night sitting around a table eating the stew that Laurie had prepared for us.
"So, where's everyone else?" I asked. "I only meant a farm this size, I thought there would be more people working it." Ever since we've arrived I haven't seen anyone else.
"A lot of the men in town are at a job down the river. Our father and our brother went with them, but they come back every now and then." Laurie answered my question. "You guys have somewhere to stay for the night?"
"We're good." I answered sharply.
"No." Archie quickly answered.
"We should be getting out of your hair." I eyed Archie.
"Or you could stay the night, if you don't mind sleeping in the barn." Laurie hinted.
"That would be amazing." Archie smiled at her. "Is there anything we can do to repay you?" I placed my hand on Archie's leg and cleared my throat.
"Just some farm work." She shrugged. "I have some bales of hay I need moving."
"Just stay out of the main house." Gracie spoke up.

"Arch," I sighed. "We can't stay here."
"One night, that was the deal Nat." Archie sat down on the bale of hay. "What's wrong?"
"I don't know." I sat down across from him. "This just doesn't feel right." I looked around the barn. "I mean, where is everybody? And when I asked her what her dad and her brother did, didn't it seem like she was lying to us?"
"You mean, like we are, Stassie?" I rolled my eyes at Archie. "It sounds like Jughead has been rubbing off on you." He joked.
"Oh shut up," I laughed.
"Am I interrupting?" Laurie walked in with some blankets in hand.
"Nope." Archie answered quickly. "Not at all."
"I brought some extra blankets in case you guys get cold in the middle of the night." She stood there with blankets in hand.
"Thanks." I grabbed the blankets from her as I saw Archie just sitting there like an idiot.
"Well, all right," Laurie breathed out. "See you tomorrow."
"Good night." Archie called out after her.
"Seriously?" I threw the blanket at him.
"What?" He let out a laugh.
"Keep it in your pants, Biff." I sat down next to him laughing. "What?" I looked at him confused as he just sat there staring at me.
"You cut your hair," he brought his hand up to my hair.
"Yeah," I answered softly as he scooted closer to me.
"Natalie," Archie breathed out as we both were waiting for one of us to make a move.

A/N: It's a bit of a short one but the next one will be longer. I know this is not an Archie story but it will all come into play soon. What do you think is going to happen next?
