Camila's POV

I pushed though the front door of hell just as I had done the past week I attended there. North Wells colors were blue and white. I slowly walked up the navy blue staircase to reach my locker. The lockers were all white and mine sort of smelled like something had died in there. I tried to visit my locker as little as possible.

I chose to wear my loose fitting green crew-neck and black leggings for a more casual look today. I shut my locker and turned around to stroll around the halls.

I was always abnormally early since my mom thought I should get more acquainted with the school and get to know the location of rooms and such better.

I could see a large neon sign that spelled out "Sign Ups" in the distance.

I had the time so I figured I would check it out. I approached the sign which had a small paragraph stapled with an explanation.

"As you know, we are 'Those kids' aka one of the bands in this school. We play all different types of music and we are looking for a new guitar player because of disagreements with our previous member. If you sing can sing that would be even better. We are looking forward to try outs so that we can practice and maybe land a few gigs being that it's already March. Please stop by with a song prepared during lunch Monday or Thursday in room 312"

I knew I would enjoy playing in a band again. However, I would have to ask Dinah because we did want to have jam sessions and I wouldn't want to ditch my new friend.

I could tell by the picture the band was co-ed with a female lead singer. She wore black leather leggings with a vintage tee. Her nose was pierced and she had the prettiest emerald eyes. By the looks of the picture she was the center of attention, standing in the middle, and more up front than the other members.

Her style was grungy, but in a cool and hipster way. Her hair looked black and wavy and she held a microphone in the picture.

I wondered what her name was. I wanted to ask Dinah, but I didn't want to come off as being creepy. I was purely curious.

I wondered how her voice sounded and what types of songs they played. For all I knew it was a screamo band who dyed their dogs hair for fun.

"Hey there," a voice from behind me spoke softly.

"Oh, hi. I didn't see you there," I acknowledged the taller boy's presence.

"Recognize me?" He struck the same pose he was doing in the picture adjacent from where I was standing.

"Oh, yeah. You're the drummer, right?" I asked interested.

"Yeah. You should try out if you're interested. We need a guitarist really bad," he confessed.

"I think I might. What's your name?"

"I'm Phillip. Everyone calls me Phil or "that drummer". I started that band you're looking at back in seventh grade," he added.

"Oh cool! I'm Camila. Everyone calls me Camila," I tried to joke.

"That's a beautiful name. I'm a junior. What about you?" He asked as he ran his hand through his thick black hair which was at least two inches high.

"Sophomore. I guess it's better than a freshman though, right?" I tried to flirt.

"Yeah definitely. So I guess I'll see you around..or maybe at auditions?" Phil asked hopefully.

"It's a definite maybe," I smiled.

"Alright cool. See you soon hopefully!"

I watched as the older boy turned around and walked away. He had a lip ring which no one had at my old school. He wore white high top sneakers, black jeans, and a green day t-shirt.

He was definitely cute and looked like he could be in the next big boy band. Phil seemed to be flirting with me, but he also gave me the impression he was a bit of a player.

I didn't want to limit myself to liking him or really anyone at this point in time. I had a lot of options to choose from. After all, this was one of the biggest high schools in all of Florida.

I didn't have much experience in the dating field and had never been in a relationship before. I would never share that information for the sake of my non existent social status.

I kept thinking about the band and more and more about Phillip. I couldn't help but smile like an idiot in front of people in the now semi crowded hallway since it was getting closer and closer to homeroom.

I decided to take the long way this time.
