Camila's POV

I jumped off my couch the second I heard a knock at my front door.

"Suprise bitches!" Dinah yelled with Lauren standing by her side.

"Dinah! I told you my mom liked you. You won't ruin that, right?" I asked.

"Don't worry. Sinu won't mind," Dinah responded.

"Hi Camila. Should I take my shoes off?"

"Only if you want to Lauren. Please come in," I gestured as they entered my house.

Lauren wore the same black jeans that she wore to school with a Lana Del Rey tee and grey beanie. On the other hand, Dinah wore sweatpants and a sweatshirt with YONCE written across the front. We walked into my living room and sat down on the couch.

"Hi Dinah. You must be Lauren..nice to meet you," my mom spoke as she entered the living room.

"Hi Mrs.Cabello. It's nice to meet you," Lauren waved.

"You too, but please call me Sinu," my mom responded.

Lauren nodded her head as my mom exited the room not wanting to interupt our usual movie night. My mom was happy to know I had made friends and was not a complete loner as most of my family had expected me to be. Back at home, some of my old friends used to talk behind my back and in the 8th grade I was at the point where I had no true friends and felt like I was alone. I could only really trust my mom and I told her everything. Every since that experience, she has been very strict with who I choose to hangout with and sometimes I'm happy that she's so over protective.

"Wow Mila. You have popcorn, candy, chips, AND soda. We really hit the jackpot this time," Dinah laughed.

"Yeah Camila. Thank's for inviting me and having all this set up. It's really cool."

"No problem guys. Now let's put the movie on and start talking about the drama," I suggested.

Dinah put in the 13 Going on 30 DVD and pressed play. We all began eating eveything like Dinah and I normally did and began commenting on the movie.

"If the six chicks were in our school, I bet John would be the leader," I laughed.

"Probably. But Mary would also be one of them," Lauren added.

"I have no clue who Mary is. I'm guessing she's mean? Now that John has been brought up can we talk about that douche?" I asked.

"Of course. I can't believe I had to be in a band with him and I'm so glad that I quit. The fact that he turned you down was terrible and the way he said it was worse. I would rather live in our school than be in a band with that freaking idiot. He was even more rude to Normani and Ally last year. They are really good friends who tried out before me and they have amazing voices."

"I don't know them, but they sound nice," I responded.

"Yeah. We should hangout with them. I think you and Dinah would really enjoy their company. Normani is obsessed with Beyonce and I know Ally really hates John too," Lauren added.

"Yeah we should. But why didn't Phil quit?" I wondered.

"Because Phil's had the band since seventh grade. He will probably get rid of John in the near future, but he will never quit. There's no way he would basically give John the right to find all new members and keep the name," Lauren explained.

Thinking about it now, it made more sense. As much as I wanted Phil to yell at John and stand up for me, he didn't. I knew he had his reasons why he just left the room instead. He was speechless and shocked. I still have no clue what John had told him outside and to be honest, I really didn't want to know.

"That makes sense. What do you think Dinah?"

Dinah hadn't spoke since the moment we brought up John and I could tell Lauren was as confused as I was. She was staring into space like she had just seen a ghost.

"Dinah?" Lauren asked worried that she hadn't responded.

"I..um..I have to tell you guys something. Please don't get mad," Dinah started.

"Hurry! You're scaring me!" I yelled after a few seconds which felt like hours had passed.

"I dated John last year," Dinah whispered barely enough to be heard.

"What? That is just gross! You could do so much better," Lauren ranted.

Dinah never made eye contact with us and her face remained expressionless.

"That isn't all. No one knows this, but  we broke up because he slapped me in the face after we got into an arguement," Dinah revealed as tears formed in eyes.

"Oh my god, Dinah! Why didn't you tell anyone? I knew he had anger issues. Are you okay?" I asked concerned.

"I'm fine now. He just really scares me. Even now. The arguement was over where we would get dinner and he got so angry over something as stupid as that. That's why I didn't say anything to him directly when he rejected you from being in the band.I really wanted t, but I was scared.  He said if I told anyone he would hit me again or even worse. He tells other guys in the school that I'm crazy and tried to ruin my life just because I broke up with him."

Dinah finally met our gaze and wiped her tears with her sweatshirt sleeves before I gave her a tissue.

"I'm so sorry Dinah. He is such a jerk and I feel terrible that he did that," Lauren comforted her.

I could see the hurt in Dinah's eyes. I had never seen her cry before and was so shocked at what she had just revealed. We sat in silence for a few minutes until Dinah spoke again.

"I hate him and I would rather we stay away from him and not talk about him in general, if that's ok."

"Of course. Let's just continue the movie and forget about that jackass," I responded.

The rest of night we watched the movie and laughed while comparing it to our lives and our school. We got to know Lauren more and found out about her obsession with Lana Del Rey. Also, that she plays softball on the varsity team for our school and loves horror movies.

The movie ended and we checked the clock to realize after all of the pausing and rewinding we had done, it was actually 11.

"Wow. I can't believe it's 11. We should get going Dinah."

"Yeah, before my Mom sents out a search party to come find me," Dinah joked.

"Thank for having me. Tell your mom I say thanks," Lauren whispered careful not to wake up my little sister, Sofi, who was asleep upstairs.

"Same. Thanks for having me Mila," Dinah whispered.

"No problem. Maybe next week we can watch a horror movie since you both seem to like those," I opened the door as they stepped outside.

"Yas. I'll text you later," Dinah said as she left.

"Same here, Bye." Lauren waved as they walked down my very long and dim driveway.

I waved goodbye and locked the door before I walked upstair to my room. I still could not believe what Dinah had told us about her and John and what he had done. However, aftterwards we still had a good time and I think we got closer and learned more about Lauren as well.

I could not wait for the summer where we could do things like this everyday and not have to worry about going to school. It was the middle of April which left around 2 months roughly until summer had finally started. I usually went to Brazil for most of the summer, but since I had just moved to Miami, we were staying here instead.

As much as I hated to admit this because I was so against it at first, I was really starting to like Miami.
