Chapter 3

"Well don't you see, I've tied you up." He said casually.

I was speechless. What the hell was going on. I felt a drop of water hit my face. I looked up into the midnight sky. Dark purple and black clouds were forming everywhere above us. "Oh, no. Oh, god no." My heart stopped. I knew who was going to die. Adella. I'd had a vision about it. She'd screamed and called out my name, but I couldn't move cause I was tied up. Suddenly I was drenched with water, unable to move. Tears flooded my eyes. I looked over at Adella. Her body stood there frozen. I could see the shock in her eyes as Kohl glared in her direction. He moved slowly towards her.

"Adella look at me. Everything's going to be alright." Her eyes shot in my direction. Makeup stained tears slid down her face.

"How do you know?" Her voice quivered. "If I die I'll go to the Shadow Realm. My soul will be lost forever. How can you say everything will be alright!"

"You have to have faith. Just believe, okay." I began to hyperventilate.

"You're my best friend Anastasia. You're like my sister. I love you."

"I love you too. Please, please don't die. I-I-I need you. You're all I've got left.

"Oh will you two stop it already! You're gonna make me sick! You and I already know nothing is going to be alright." Kohl laughed harder than I've ever heard anyone laugh before. His wings ripped out of the back of his shirt. Leaving little slits where they broke through. They were black with white feathers outlining their ends. They were the most beautiful wings I've ever seen in my life.

"Oh, shit!" I screamed. This could only mean one thing. He's the demon prince! The most powerful demon in all of Hell. Even more powerful than the King himself.

He grabbed Adella by the neck and slammed her into the tree. She fell to the ground, screaming in agony.

"No, please don't hurt her! Hurt me instead!" I pleaded and begged, but he didn't seem to be listening. He turned her over, grabbing her wings.

She turned to look at me. "T-t-t tell my family I love them. Please?"

"Please don't say goodbye! I really don't want to hear that right now."

"Remember this isn't a goodbye, it's a see you later." She tried to smile but she was in too much pain.

Just as she said that he took a knife to her wings. Cutting them clean off. She screamed bloody murder. I closed my eyes unable to watch. I could hear him pick her almost dead body up off the ground.

"I love you!" I whispered. I opened my eyes. He had her dangled over the waterfall. She struggled to get out of his grasp, but he was too strong.

"Nooooooooooo!" I screamed as he threw her over Life's Curtain. I bawled my eyes out for what seemed like eternity. I couldn't believe she was actually gone. I jumped when I opened my eyes. His face so close to mine I could feel his hot breath on my face. He kissed me lightly on the cheek.

"Goodnight." I passed out leaving my dead best friend to roam the Shadow Realm by herself.
