Chapter 7
I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard Adella's cry for help. As fast as possible I sped back in the direction I'd came from. I tuned into where her voice had sounded. The direction of her voice appeared to be changing rapidly. I could hear her squirming while the man who'd kidnapped her tied her up. He'd threatened to kill her if she screamed. Although Adella and I both knew that he'd kill her whether she screamed or not. Not if I could stop him.
I focused more closely on where, and who she was with. After a few seconds the picture finally came into view. I could vividly see she was tied up, and blind folded in the trunk of the stolen car. Sitting in the drivers seat of the yellow Camero was..... a demon!
"Oh, shit! This can't be good." I turned off toward the north, planning to meet them somewhere in the middle. The adrenaline rushed faster, and faster through my body, as the car got closer.I felt so strong and powerful, like nothing could stop me. I just wanted to scream, but didn't cause I knew people would hear me. I ducked behind a billboard, I knew the car would be turning soon. Luckily, there were no other vehicles roaming the street. That way no one would see my attack. Slowly, I counted down from ten. When I reached one, the car was just turning. Swiftly, I jumped of the roof of the building, back flipped, and landed quietly on the roof of the car. I doubt the driver heard my landing. Adella might have, but I think she's been passed out for a while.
I held on as the car turned left onto a dark back road. Carefully I crept towards the windshield. I took a deep breath to calm myself down. The cool breeze prickled my bare skin, causing my body to shake, and shiver rapidly. I've been taking so many risks lately, and I couldn't afford to lose anyone else to a demon. I need to stand up and fight, there's no time for losing! Then I attempted something I'd never tried before. Who knows if this is going to work, but you know, you got to risk it to get the biscuit.
I centered myself completely. Weighing myself down, then lifting myself up. I closed my eyes. Be light like the air, but strong like the wind. Using all my strength I lifted my body up, so I was hovering just above the car. Although, I was still close enough to be pulled by the force of the vehicle. This felt amazing, like nothing I'd ever felt before. I stayed afloat for a while. Up until my concentration was broken by a passing car's honk. I hit the top of the car with a thud. Quickly I turned my head to look in the rear view mirror. He was looking right at me, snarling. In a blink of an eye, the car swerved out of control. I struggled to hold on, but failed and went flying into a tree. I fell face first at the trunk of the giant Douglas Fur. I turned, groaning in agony as he stabbed me in the stomach with a sharpened tree branch.
"Did you really think you'd be able to kill me?" He said. I recognized that voice, but I just couldn't put my finger on it. I didn't reply.
"Answer me when I speak to you!" He yelled. I turned my head and looked up at him. It was dark, I could barely see his face, but remotely I could make out his features.........
My wound had healed, and my strength was regained. Fast as a bullet, I stood up.
"James!"
Without even thinking I lunged for his neck. His eyes bulged from his head as I squeezed his neck tighter. Before I even knew it his head seemed to be detached from his body. I thought that James would've been stronger. Although it's not like I gave him any time to fight back. I knew I'd never be able to kill him, that would have taken way too long. I didn't have any time to waste. You see demons are completely different than angels. It's not like they have only one day they can be killed. You could kill them anytime you want, but it's complicated. The only way to defeat a demon is if you chop off all their body parts and bury them in different places all around the world. If you do that their body parts won't be able to join back together.
I looked down at James' head, and his limp body. I would've thought that his head would be reattached to his body, but he appeared to be steaming into the ground. The image was kind of hard to explain, but it was almost like he melted then disappeared. Who knows how long it will be until he returns. Before walking over to the trunk I picked up the silver keys, that were left in his place. When I reached the car, I quickly unlocked the trunk. I guess Adella's reincarnation had been awake the whole time. I untied the rope that was wrapped around her mouth, hands, and feet, and took off the blind fold that covered her eyes.
She hopped out of the trunk. I watched as her eyes got wide with wonder when she saw my wings. She reached out her hand and touched my wing gently. Her touch made me shiver. She flinched, and pulled her hand back to her side.
"What are you?" She asked.
"I'm a fallen angel." I tried to say normally.
"Oh, I guess that explains everything." She gestured to my wings. "Well, how did you get here, like why are you on Earth?" I closed my eyes. How was I going to explain this. I opened my eyes.
"Lets just say it's complicated." I said.
"Okay."
"We should go, it's not safe here. Do you mind driving?" I asked.
"Sure."
The whole drive to her house we sat in silence. It was really awkward. I would've broken the silence, but I didn't know what to say. So I just sat there. I wasn't long until we turned into her driveway. I got out of the car and followed her to her front door. When we got inside I sat down in a chair next to the couch. She made tea for us to drink.
I sipped my tea slowly. "Soooo." Adella's reincarnation yawned. I cut her off.
"Can I use your bathroom?"
"Uh, sure, it's over there." She pointed straight ahead. I got up, walked in, and shut the door. I looked in the mirror for what seemed like forever. I watched as my platinum blonde hair turned to stark black. My wings were shiny and black with.............white tips! What could this mean? Didn't the prince of the Underworld have white tips! Great this was perfect. I took a deep breath, and splashed water on my face. Should I tell Adella's reincarnation what's going on? What if she reacts badly to it. I put my hands over my face. Come on Anastasia make up your mind. I thought to myself.
"Okay, I'll just tell her." I mumbled, before walking out of the bathroom.
I walked back into the front room, my body facing the lit fireplace. "I think you should know something." I paused. "I know this is going to be hard for you to believe, but this isn't your first life. You are a reincarnation.... of my best friend Adella." I turned to face her. I sighed when I realized she was asleep. I guess I'll just have to wait until the morning to tell her. At least that will save me some time to prepare myself for the worst. I folded my wings into the protective slits in my back.
I fixed my thin slip that covered my body. I would've looked for a blanket, but I didn't want to get my blood on anything. I went to sit back down in the chair, to find someone already sitting in it. I gasped as they slipped their hand over my mouth, and injected something into my arm.
"Fuck you." I mumbled before passing out on the floor.
