Yeah, you're my medicine.
"You."
Casper couldn't speak. She didn't even know what to think. Words couldn't help her now. They never would.
Me. He said me.
Niall was watching Casper's reaction very closely. He knew he was about to put his entire heart out into the open. He just hoped she'd be able to handle it.
"I'm here because you--you just...everything you do, you do as if it'll break if you move too fast. You tread so carefully, Cas. You try to live your life in the shadows, hiding so no one can see, because you're so afraid of ruining everything you touch. But Cas...what you don't realize is that you laugh like this gets better. You laugh like there's going to be a happy ending and everything will be okay. And people notice. I noticed."
He never once moved his gaze from her eyes the entire time he spoke, and neither did she. Casper couldn't have, even if she wanted to. She was utterly transfixed and the only thing her mind could process was the pair of ocean eyes that were staring directly into her soul.
Niall continued when he saw she wasn't going to run away.
"When you move, the earth stops spinning. I swear, it does. The stars have nothing on your eyes and--fuck, Cas. I'm so selfish, but no one listens to me the way you do. You're sitting here right now, like I matter, like I mean something, like I'm contributing something important to the world. I just--I can't get you out of my head and it kills me in the best way possible. You're literally the only thing I think about anymore. Nothing compares to you. Nothing."
Casper had started shaking. It was out of her control. Her entire body were the tremors of an earthquake about to happen. Nothing compares to you nothing compares to you nothing compa--
"Fuck, Cas, shit. Did I--fuck, I'm sorry."
Niall pulled her body into his chest, and Casper held on for dear life as tears began to fall from her eyes.
As he gently hugged her, Niall thought he had done something wrong.
But all Casper knew was that he had done something unforgettably right.
"I'm sorry, just forget I said anything. It was stupid. I'm sorry. "
Niall kept apologizing and Casper kept crying. The waterfall just wouldn't stop.
He didn't understand the real reason behind her tears, just like she didn't understand the real reason behind his repetitive apologies.
So, Casper swallowed and made herself say one shaky sentence. She needed to understand.
"Ni--Niall...why do you care so much?"
And just like before, he answered without hesitation.
"Because you're you. And you make everything better."
