"I'm still not sure about this, ya know," Kai said as he pushed back the golden lined red curtain. "What if it's a trap?" Zoey ignored him as she passed through the other side of the curtain. "Relax. Lana is very well known throughout the town. If they can trust her, so can we." "How come we never see her outside though? Is this all she does all day?"
"She's a fortune teller. Fortune tellers are supposed to be a bit odd. It's their nature."
"That it is," a lady behind the front desk said, coming out into the open. "Welcome to Lady Lana's Corridors, where we see what can be." She grinned as she happily swayed towards a round table with a purple and gold stars design on top. On top of that laid a crystal ball, right next to two lime green chairs. She gestured to them. "Please, do take a seat."
Zoey sat down in of them as the woman took the only other seat across from her. Kai, who was left to stand and watch, crossed his arms and wore a scowl on his face. "Now, what is it you'd wish to learn more about?" Zoey stared down at the purple cloud-like magic swirling inside the crystal ball. "Ora Gloon."
"Ahh...I see. The Twilight Princess's most prized bounty hunter, correct?" Zoey nodded, not wanting to risk exposing the truth to a woman she just met. "Let me see." She closed her eyes and reached her arms across the table, palms facing up. "Can you feel it?"
"Feel what?"
"Her presence." Her eyes flipped open. "Look." The crystal ball in front of her began to swirl even faster, until it burst into a million specs of glitter, revealing an image. It was of a girl, about 12 years old, staring off into the open galaxy whilst being aboard a massive space station.
"Is that her?" Zoey asked, examining the image very closely. Lana nodded. "Yes. You see, this crystal ball isn't just good for looking into the future, but the past as well."
She locked her glossy aqua gray eyes into Zoey's eyes. "What you do in the past affects your future, you do realize that, right?" She nodded. "Yes well, it's not just that. What other people do can affect that too. But what really matters in such a situation, is the way you respond to it. For instance, say you really hated someone. Would you kill them, or simply just ignore them?"
Zoey stared at her blankly. "Ignore them?"
Lana smiled a sneaky smile. "Wrong!" She slammed her hands onto the table forcefully. "You little snitch, I should've known you'd side with good!"
"Excuse me, what?"
"I should've known Zaria would've failed her task. I should've known she'd screw everything up, just like she always does. She's no different than what she was back then other than having magic. Magic, that she abused! Magic is too powerful to be abused, wouldn't you agree?"
"What's going on here?" Zoey stood up and backed away slowly. She motioned for Kai to do the same. "Fine, I don't need you, I'll find my own vessel!" Suddenly she shifted back to her original state.
"Ora!"
"Was wondering how long it would take you to find out. You mortals are so stupid. No wonder Zaria wanted magic." She raised her pale white arm high above her greenish blonde ponytail, and with a single snap of her fingers, disappeared in a dark cloud of smoke.
"We've been tricked," Kai panted, grabbing onto Zoey's arm. "Let's get out of here."
"What was that?"
"That was Ora Gloon, I'm pretty sure."
"No, I mean why did I trust you?"
"Wait, what?"
"It seems like every time I trust you it always leads to at least more trouble. Or Ora Gloon."
The cloud above them began to break. Kai walked faster to be ahead of Zoey. She ran to try to catch up.
