"He shall rise once again," the only villager left on the square spoke calmly. He wore a feathered headdress and a dark robe, along with having paint all over his face and body. He also had dark skin and was barefoot. "When the night's dark, and the moon's full." His thick accent gave a certain chill to his voice. Within the blink of an eye, he had disappeared after his statement was finished.
Aria looked over the empty square from the cliff, wind blowing through her hair. "Foolish townspeople," she muttered to herself as she took a seat on the cliff. She was all alone now. She watched as the full moon rose. It was the brightest she had ever seen. There also seemed to be an eerie blood red rim circled around it.
"Zaria...welcome back," a spooky voice echoed. "It's nice to see you again." She turned her head to see an extra pale Tom appear out of literal thin air, as if he was a ghost. His skin was even see-through, and almost appeared gray. His hair was dark now, but still perfectly tousled. His eyes were grey and drab, and they had lost their sparkle and appeared lifeless. He was wearing a tuxedo and had a glow to his body as he slightly hovered above the ground.
"Tom?" She gasped, her Aria side coming out. "I thought I had killed you—"
"You did," he said, his ghostly voice echoing. "I'm just a ghost now." He drifted hopelessly in the dark air.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry." The image of his current state terrified her like no other. She had done this. She was responsible for this. It should've been her. She ran over to him, but just ran through him. She tried to touch his hand, or even kiss him, but her body just went right through his.
"We could have been through," he bellowed. "But you made your choice." He narrowed his eyes and turned his back to her.
"No, no, it wasn't me though—you have to believe, I didn't do this. It was the Twilight Princess! It's her fault! Ugh..." She buried her face inside her palms, not believing what reality had came to.
Tom's ghost turned back around. "Thank you."
She looked up. "Huh?"
"Thank you for killing me, so I could free myself from that dreadful boy's body. Now that I'm finally immortal here on Earth, I can finally return to my normal physique and rule Zerelelia. You know, you had your chance to rule beside me. But I guess that won't be happening now."
"Wait what—You're not Tom? Who are you?"
He laughed. "Tom Harley was just my alias. I needed a disguise so that I could find you again, Zaria, so we could rule together. What do you say?" With a puff of black smoke, he shifted to his normal form. Tall, muscular, with armor surrounding his whole body. On his head was a helmet combined with a large spiked crown similar to her own, the only facial feature that could be seen was the glow from his inhuman yellow eyes.
"You tricked me," she said, almost losing her balance and falling back. "You made me fall in love with you just so you could have more power."
"The feeling is mutual. Come with me, Zaria, and we can open a new chapter all on our own. Wherever you want. Let's just be together."
"I'll never side with evil." She began to walk away.
"Wait," he called after her desperately. "There's something I've been meaning to ask you. Something that's been on my mind lately."
Aria crossed her arms, nodding. With a wave of his hand, both of them shifted back to what they looked like when they first met. "You know Aria, time's a funny thing."
"Well, yeah I mean, it tells you when and when not to do stuff. You literally plan your whole life around it."
"Yes, but, it's so much more than that. One day, you could just be out enjoying a sunny day. Feeling the sun melt into your skin, smelling the fresh smell of pollen evaporating from the ground. Living the simple life. Then, one day, it could all change. Maybe for the worst, or maybe for the better. You don't know your old self anymore. It's almost like, that part of you never even existed. You knew it happened, but it's as it never did. You remember it, yet at the same time, you don't. Life changes. Every single second of every single minute of every single hour of every single day of every single year of every single life. Days may go by slow, but years go by fast. And you never know where life is going take you. Things could all be very different in the blink of an eye. That's why we can't let time get into the wrong hands. It's important. It shapes us into what we are. The sidekick I am, the hero you are. It's all interconnected. It's our story, and it's ours to tell. And that's the most important gift life could ever give us. We can't just give up on it now. What do you say? Will you help me stop the universe from spinning?"
