Yoongi led Taehyung down the hall and into a rather large kitchen area and had the man sit at one of the many stools lining the island smacked in the center of the large room.

He turned and walked out the fridge, digging out a container of leftovers Jin had put away from last night. He heated it up, casting a few glances at Taehyung every now and then.

“So, tell me about yourself now.” Yoongi finally said, breaking the silence.

“I work in a data managing company.”

“Meaning?”

“I put numbers into a computer all day and then send them off to wherever they need to go.”

“The purpose?”

“Don’t know. I just put numbers in. Don’t know where they go or what they’re used for.”

“You don’t even know what you do for your job?” Taehyung gave him a flat stare.

“I sit at a computer all day, staring at the same four beige walls and typing ones and zeros into a computer, occasionally a five or six if I’m lucky.”

“Wow...That sounds…”

“As shitty as it is.” Taehyung sighed. “No place would hire me because of my criminal background, and I can’t get a manual labor job where they’re more lenient on hiring because I can’t use my knee like that.”

“Criminal background?”

Taehyung other and looked down. “First degree murder, three accounts.” He said quietly. Yoongi’s eyes widened and his jaw dropped.

He was shocked to say the least.

“W-What? Shouldn’t you—“

“Insanity plea.” Taehyung whispered. “My lawyers forced me to take an insanity plea so I got locked up into a mental institution for two years before being released.”

“H—“

“The guys...they were Jungkook’s friends. Members of the street gang he used to be a part of. They paid off a bunch of officers to make it seem like I had killed my family.”

“How the hell do you do that?”

Taehyung looked down and shrugged. “I had been raped and had gone into a fit of rage, killed my family and then passed out in the living room.”

“But—“

“I know.” Taehyung finally snapped. “I know that there are too many loopholes and too many things that could’ve proved me innocent, but I had a crappy lawyer and they had a really good one. I didn’t exactly have any money. Whatever my parents would have left me went to my hospital bills and the lawsuit the rest to my family whole filed a lawsuit against me for murdering my parents and sister.”

Yoongi gave the food to Taehyung and sat beside him. “They filed a lawsuit against you?”

“I was extremely successful, even before I had debuted. I had thousands of fans just waiting for the songs I would release. My family isn’t...kind. They’re greedy, and they thought I had money. But I was a trainee, I wasn’t getting paid yet, the only thing I had was what my parents left me, and that all went to the hospital bills from my surgeries. So I had nothing. But they took it as an opportunity to get some extra money.”

“Wait, but why was your family even attacked in the first place?”

“Because Jungkook had been initiated into some mafia or something I guess. And he was the heir or something, he’d briefly told me about it, but I told him to keep me out of his gang stuff. I would be supportive of whatever he chose to do as long as he didn’t involve me in anything illegal or dangerous.”

“Were you close friends?”

“He was my boyfriend.” Taehyung whispered. He was staring at the bowl in front of him, spinning the food around and playing with it, not really meeting Yoongi’s eyes.

Yoongi sat there, stunned.

“Really?”

Taehyung nodded. “The men that came...they thought I would hinder and distract Jungkook from their goals for him. They thought he would accept them into the mafia once he took over and include them into his inner circle. But they weren’t that close with him, I’d only seen them once or twice when I was out with Jungkook. They had a tendency to follow around members of their gang to make sure they weren’t breaking any rules, and I didn’t mind, because they never bothered us.”

“So they took you out because they thought you were holding Jungkook back?”

“Yeah.” Taehyung shrugged. “Didn’t matter anyway, because he'd already left me by then, just hadn’t told me until I woke up in the hospital and had just learned that not only had my family died, but that I could no longer reach any of my dreams.”

“But it wasn’t his fault.”

Taehyung bit his bottom lip. “No.” He finally admitted, albeit a bit bitterly. “It wasn’t directly Jungkook’s fault.”

“Then why do you resent him?”

“Because he left.” Taehyung said quietly. “He was the only one I had, the one thing that I was holding onto my sanity for. When I got his stupid fucking letter, I broke. There was nothing left for me to live for.”
