Jimin didn’t say anything when Taehyung stopped talking. The room was plunged into a silence.
On the other side of the door…
Jungkook was leaning against the wall, letting tears just fall down his face.
He didn’t want to hear all of that, didn’t want to know. He didn’t ever think that that would happen to his love.
He felt disgusted with himself and didn’t know what to think. He had shut down completely and wasn’t moving, just leaning against the wall, where he had heard everything that had happened to his baby when he’d left.
He really did deserve to be hated by the older. He wasn’t there, he hadn’t stopped it, hadn’t even been there to pick up the pieces and try to mend Taehyung.
No, he’d left, and just assumed that the love of his life had achieved his dreams and was living the best life. He would come back and surprise the older, show him all that he had achieved.
But nothing had turned out the way he had thought.
The smile he so loved was gone.
The light in the man’s eyes.
The bounce in his step.
The cheery tone.
The slightly pink and full lips.
The glowing skin.
It was all gone. And it was all his fault.
He didn’t know how to fix it, he didn't know if he could. He didn’t know if he even had the right to. He’d broken—no, he’d shattered the man beyond all repair and just left him like that. Some broken shell of a man who had no more reason left to live.
“Jeon…?” Jungkook didn’t respond, didn’t even move when one of his men, one of the men he trusted with his life approached him.
It was Namjoon. And he was slightly panicking.
Because he'd never seen Jungkook cry before.
Jungkook was the tough street kid. The leader. The man who didn’t have weakness, never had a weak spot, a weak moment, was never weak.
And this...this was just a broken man who seemed to be wallowing in guilt and sorrow.
He quickly walked to the younger and placed a hand onto his shoulder. “Jungkook, are you okay?”
“N-no.” Jungkook managed, gasping.
And that’s when he broke down. Simple tears weren’t anything compared to what he was feeling. He fell into Namjoon’s chest and began to sob quietly, feeling like a monster.
He’d killed people.
Ruined lives.
And he’d never felt sorry, never shed a tear, never thought twice.
But this was different. Taehyung was a part of his past, a part of his happiness. Someone that had always inspired him to keep going, to achieve the impossible and to make him proud.
And he wished it all had never happened, that he hadn’t left that day, that he’d stayed and that he’d been there for Taehyung.
But he wasn’t.
“Jungkook…” Namjoon said quietly, not having the slightest clue as to why the younger was being like this. But he guided the man into a private room, away from prying eyes and sat him down onto a couch. “Jungkook, what’s wrong?”
“I’m such a monster.”
“Jungkook, we're all monsters here. You’ve never cried like this. You’ve never cried, anyway. I don’t know what’s going on, can you tell me?”
“No.” Jungkook shook his head.
It was then that Namjoon realized Jungkook was human, too.
He’d always thought of the younger as an indestructible weapon, one who didn’t get sick, didn’t get beaten down, didn’t get tired.
But Jungkook was still a human and...he was still a kid, too.
Namjoon had forgotten that. He leaned down and pulled Jungkook into a hug, comforting him gently.
Jungkook suddenly pushed him away, standing. He wiped his tears and stalked out of the room, leaving Namjoon utterly confused and very concerned. He got up and walked out of the room, watching as Jimin exited a room they didn’t use.
“Jimin, do you know what’s going on with Jungkook?”
“That fucker? I don’t think I care.” Jimin said quietly.
“What? He’s your best friend, Jimin!”
“I don’t know that man.” Jimin said, sounding very disappointed. He shook his head and walked away from Namjoon, leaving him utterly confused. What the hell was going on!?
