“Shit.” Taehyung breathed heavily, almost gasping for air as he nearly collapsed to the ground.

Jungkook ran over and caught the man before he could, however. “Taehyung...take a break. The therapist asked if you needed one, and it’s obvious you do, so why did you lie?”

“No...I have to keep going.”

“Putting strain on it will only make it worse, not better. It’s healthy to take breaks and rest the knee.” The therapist said calmly. “Please, have a seat, Taehyung. We’ll be taking a short break before continuing, but even then I do not think that we should today. It is commendable that you wish to make a swift and fast recovery, but overworking yourself will only make it worse, not better.”

Taehyung whimpered at those words, shaking his head, feeling upset by them. “I-I’m Sorry…” he whispered.

“There’s nothing to be sorry about.” Jungkook whispered back. “Just...I know you’re excited, Okay? But you’ve been given plenty of time to recover and make sure your knee and throat are in prime condition to perform, Okay? So don’t rush it.”

Taehyung nodded shakily, before standing up once again and grabbing his water bottle. “Hyung, do you think that I should stop for today?” Taehyung eventually asked, turning to the therapist.

The man nodded slowly.

“You did a lot of good work today, but I don’t want you to over work it. Go home, rest on it, ice your knee a little and in two days we’ll have another session. Don’t walk too much on the knee, though, Okay? It’ll cause swelling and more discomfort.” Taehyung nodded slowly, taking the man’s instructions to heart.

He allowed Jungkook to sit him down in a wheelchair and get him out of the room.

They headed home, where Taehyung was picked up and gently laid on Jungkook’s bed, before the man ran off to get some ice for his knee.

He sighed and slumped back, crossing his arms as a pout made its way to his face.

When Jungkook came back, he saw the pout and sighed. “What’s wrong, hmm?”

“I just...I feel like I’m failing already.” Taehyung muttered sadly.

“Taehyung, it was only your first day of therapy. You didn’t fail. If anything, you went above and beyond. But sometimes you just need to take it slow and steady. You aren’t going to get better being hasty about it, it'll take time. And you heard the trainer, the doctor told you as well, when you woke up and before you left the hospital that a lot of the recovery involves just letting the knee rest.”

“I hate that you’re right.” Taehyung muttered. “I guess I’m just...excited? This all seems so surreal to me, and I’ve...I haven’t felt like this in a long time.” Taehyung offered a whisper of a smile, and Jungkook loved that he got that reaction.

He loved that it seemed like Taehyung was getting better.

That’s all he wanted.

“Alright, now take it nice and easy, that’s it.” The trainer nodded, watching as Taehyung shakily made his way up the stairs, his hands only hovering over the railings built into the device.

Jungkook watched from the side, a proud smile on his face.

Taehyung huffed out a breath as he finally made it down the stairs, smiling in victory.

He was making a very fast recovery for having his knee totally replaced.

The trainer had Tarhyung sit down this time, on a reclining chair and had him lift his leg, up and down a few times, each time getting higher and higher.

Jungkook was needed for this exercise, as he was supposed to spot Taehyung, make sure he leg didn’t collapse and fall too fast. He was also supposed to help Taehyung pushed upwards some more once it seemed like he couldn’t lift his leg anymore.

Taehyung whimpered in pain as Jungkook did so, every movement gentle. Jungkook felt a pang of hurt go through his chest at the sound, but he knew that pain would be involved in the recovery and exercises.

“Good. And relax.” The trainer said. “Now you can clench your knees a few times, Taehyung, and then I think we’re done for today. Good work. Next week we’ll try bending the ligament some more, does that sound good?” Taheyung nodded and did the exercises the trainer told him to do.

When he was done, Jungkook helped him up and he used the cane Jungkook had gotten specially made for him to walk out of the training rooms.

His future looked bright and Taehyung couldn’t help but smile at that.
