Between a spike in my physical pain, getting dumped, & a general creative writing slump, I've just been to uninspired until recently to work on this. But I'm back so hopefully that makes up for it!

Sitting at his desk, he felt a sense of calmness he struggled to find most of his days. Rin looked so peaceful sleeping in bed after their long night of love making. As he poured over the maps of his land, he contemplated the next areas he must travel to and the known demons he had to vanquish there. He had lost one good soldier in the last battle, and although he did not know the man well, he did feel some large degree of guilt for losing him in a battle he led. Of course, this man was not really a man, but rather a demon taking a human form. Nevertheless, Sesshomaru found himself thinking about the demon who was new to his army. It wasn't very often that they lost a demon in battle due to excellent leadership from Sesshomaru.
But when it did happen, he felt fully responsible. However, the Lord of the West didn't have much time to dwell on his shortcomings. Many small demon Clans would happily take over the land if he didn't travel around, wiping them out. He needed to start traveling again, as much as he didn't want to leave the castle or Rin. He knew she wouldn't be happy to see him leave, but he had no other option in order to protect her. He preferred her alive and missing him to her being dead.
As he stared into space, ignoring his work a little bit longer, he pondered at how small and precious she looked. He knew that if any other demon got their claws on her they would abuse and tear her apart. He could never let that happen. He was already terrified at the prospect of her aging, and had plans to visit a dark priestess in order to make her live as long as him. He knew such spells were dangerous and came with side effects but he also knew he couldn't live without her, and couldn't bare the thought of watching her grow old and die. He needed to tattoo his mark onto her forehead, too, so that everyone knew she belonged to him, and no one could ever impregnate her besides him. These were two large rituals that needed to be done. But he waited to bring it up with her just yet. He needed to find the right time, and hoped she would agree to both.
As he drifted out of thought, he noticed Rin begin to stretch and shift under the covers. He was already ready to leave the castle again, but was waiting for her to wake up so he could say goodbye. He made his way over and sat on the edge of the bed. She rolled over and groggily opened her eyes. He smoothed her hair back from her face.
"Rin..."
She sighed contently, closing her eyes once again.
"... I have to leave again."
She looked at him right away.
"What?" She said softly.
He simply looked at her. She sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. Her chest was bare but she didn't seem to realize or notice.
"Do you have to go now?" She asked, seeing he was already in his war robes, the only thing missing were his swords and armor.
"Yes." He said, watching her reaction.
She looked sad, and crawled over, wrapping both arms around him and putting her face against him.
"Nooo..." She muttered into his chest.
"Yes.." He said, rubbing her back.
"NoOooOooooo!" She pouted, squeezing him.
He sighed and kissed the top of her head, looking up at the ceiling, letting himself be enveloped by her hug for several long moments.
"Would you like to come with me this time?"
She let out a small gasp, and looked up at him in disbelief.
"Really?" She asked excitedly. He nodded.
She jumped up, still naked, and prodeeded to dress herself, as well as pack her travel bag once again. She had assumed their days of traveling together were over due to danger, but she wasn't about to argue if he said she could come along once again. He sat for a moment, watching the way she scrambled to get ready. But eventually he made his way to his armor, and put everything on. He headed downstairs to get more protection, since he would need to make sure she was guarded at the campsite at all times. He also needed to make sure the servants packed all the necessary camp materials and bedding. He then headed to the stables to prepare Ah-Uhn to carry the both of them. As he was finishing, he heard Rin call to him. He turned around to see Rin hanging her bag out their bedroom window.
"Catch!" She yelled, tossing it towards him.
He reacted quickly, striding towards the falling bag. Once he caught it, he looked back at the window, but it was shut and Rin wasn't there. He figured she must've been heading downstairs, and got busy strapping her bag onto the saddle. He still found himself mystified by how eager and happy she was to be in his presence. He felt the same way about her, of course, but no one had ever acted so exhilarated to be in his company before. He finished securing the bag, and heard the castle doors open behind him. He turned around to find Rin running up to him.
"I'm ready!" She said.
He saw Mori step outside, and Sesshomaru walked past Rin to inform him on his battle route and how long he would be gone. Mori understood and returned to the castle. Sesshomaru went back to the stables where Rin was waiting by Ah-Uhn. He wordlessly grabbed her up and placed her on the saddle first, before leading Ah-Uhn out of the stables.
As they took off, Sesshomaru navigated them through the skies. They headed East, and once he sensed the demons nearby, he scanned the ground for a safe campsite. His troops would be following on ground in half a days time, which meant he and Rin would have a night to themselves...
