Rin woke up to a cold arm, which had slipped out from under the covers and caught a chill. She sat up, propped herself up on one arm and looked around, rubbing one of her delirious eyes. Her brain booted up and she saw a familiar old man leaning against the tree. It was Mori, Sesshomaru's kind, old adviser. She yawned and greeted him. She always wondered by he kept such an old human form. It kind of honestly creeped Rin out. She couldn't tell if he was actually much older than Sesshomaru, or a shape shifting powerful demon that could appear as whatever they wanted. But she had a hunch about the second.

It wasn't as if she hated Mori, though, in fact she actually didn't mind him because he seemed a lot more threatening than Jaken. Maybe he kind of reminded Rin of Kaede, too. The demon was sharpening his sword, which was something else she felt weirdly uncomfortable about. He didn't say good morning back. Rin got up anyway and went for a walk. Rin thought about her Lord in battle, she wished she could watch him fight more often. Alas, he wanted to keep her away from the fighting at all times. Rin trailed through the woods, running her fingertips on the foliage as she walked. She came to a deep freshwater stream. It wasn't too warm out, but she came to the edge and dipped her hand in. She decided to go for a dip, and warm up later.

Once her clothes and shoes were folded on the bank, she slipped into the water. Looking around, she noticed moss, and a little cluster of mushrooms. They were tall and stalky, not like the ones she was familiar with eating. She recalled seeing them before, in a book of medicinal herbs Kagome had. The book said something about providing "intense colors" and "healing spiritual experiences." Rin always wondered what that meant. She floated over to them, and peeled off one stalk from the cluster. Floating on her back, she looked up at the clouds, and popped the mushroom into her mouth. She chewed, kicking lazily to stay in place in the stream against the slight current. The taste was earthy and slightly bitter, and once she had finished she didn't notice any experience yet. She thought about the tattoo Sesshomaru had proposed, and felt excited about going back to their castle to get it done.

As she watched the clouds go by, she noticed an outline form around then. She then realized everything she looked at was outlined in neon. All colors were brighter, and her body felt extra light on the water. She stood up in the stream, trying not to panic. She took a deep breath, her arms raised in goosebumps. The sound of the wind was different, more detailed and noticeable. She liked this new experience, the way she felt was euphoric and amazed. Rin floated again, swishing her arms and closing her eyes. She smiled and sighed, feeling less anxious about her Lord. Instead, she remembered the incredibly intense way Sesshomaru had tied her up and fucked her out of her mind. She groaned at the memory.

She thought about how they were mates, and would soon become bound to each other, like the demon form of matrimony. Her mind got quiet, but felt fuzzy from the mushroom. And then she heard a familiar voice float into her mind,

"If ye had not figured it yet, ye be with child."

Rin stood up suddenly, looking around. There was no one in sight. "Hello?" She whispered. "Kaede?" There was nothing. The surroundings she scanned were still outlined in beautiful colors, and her shock had faded to a peaceful warmth. Had she heard a ghost? Rin smiled, and happy tears began to stream down her face. As she stood in the water, she placed a hand on her still flat stomach. It felt right, deep in her spirit she knew, she really was carrying Sesshomaru's pup, their child.
