One week later

Talent Show Night

"Madds come on, you can't look that bad!!!"
"Hold on!!! I'm coming!!!"
This will be the first time anyone else besides Speedy will hear my song that I came up with for Maddison. If only should hurry up though... the only thing she has to do is sit on a stool in the middle of the stage and look pretty. She has the second task down like it comes naturally. Speedy is already in position on the left side of the stool looking at me at pointing to his watch. "Dude, are you and your girlfriend ready yet?!"
"Yea, just a second! She's almost ready".

A couple of minutes later...

Now that we're all in position, the curtain rises, and the music starts playing. I get a glimpse at Speedy's face, and anyone can tell he's confused. The band isn't playing the song I wrote. I don't know why, but I don't quickly recognize it. It's "(You're My) Soul And Inspiration" by the Righteous Brothers. I'm glad this is the one song Speedy paid any sort of attention too because I can't sing as high of a pitch like Bobby Hatfield used to.

The crowd goes nuts when they listen to each of us sing the solo parts that Bill and Bobby once sang. Maddison's face looks as red as a cherry, probably since she's never heard me sing before, that and she didn't know I tried getting a song sang to hear, but I'm dealing with my number two.

She leans on my arm as we get close to the ending of the song, and tears start to run down her face, but she quickly dabs them away. Once the song was over, Speedy and I took our bows, and dozens of flowers were tossed on the stage. I grabbed a handful, and turned towards Maddison. I got down on my knee, and asked her to be my girlfriend. She gave me a look like she's been waiting forever for me to ask her that question. She quickly said, "YES!!!!" We hugged for a minute and she whispers, "I've been dying to get that part of our relationship out of the way. I knew we were destined to be something more, but I had no idea how to ask you to be my boyfriend. Thank you".

Maddison and I walked off the stage and caught up to Speedy. He looks at our locked hands and jokingly says, "I knew my apprentice could never be alone forever. Good job kiddo. On a serious note though, I knew you two were meant for each other. That's why Amanda and I came up with the idea to force you two to write each other songs".

We both have him shocked expressions, and ask him why he and Amanda wanted us to do that, all he says, "Well, since you both love music, and each other, you two needed to write each other songs that came from the heart and perform them somewhere public to show just how much you care about the other". Our shocked looks slowly go away, and we thanked him for everything, and he says, "You should be really thanking Amanda, she was the real conductor behind the operation. I was just doing what she told me was best for you two. I'm glad it's working out so far". He goes on to add, "Isn't it your turn Madds? Clark took his turn, now it's yours. Go show people what you're made of. Break a leg!
