after julia was taken back

I struggle to get my phone out of my tight pant leg. my head feels like it's pounding, the lights are spinning, and my heart feels like it's gonna jump from my chest.

I go through my contacts and find daniel's number.

"hello?"

I look at the ground, tears piercing through my eyes- begging to come out.

"shawn?"

i don't want to scare him.

"y-yeah uhm julia's in the hospital" my voice cracks

i hear every background movement from in the phone stop and i hear daniel start to rush around

"why?" he panics

"she was- she was having stomach cramps and she couldnt walk. when we got here, they said she was b- bleeding" i cry out

then the call ends.

I grab onto my hair, pulling it. sliding down the white wall that was behind me. I was crying. the pain is all in my chest and stomach. seeing my little sister like that, is so awful. her screams, broke my heart and how she was crying out for help and I couldn't do anything... broke my heart even more.

now she's back there and I can't even do anything or try and let her know she's gonna be okay, both her and the baby.

"where is she!" I hear someone yell

I take my head from my hands and I see daniel, with red tinted cheeks, messy hair, and out of breath.

"who?" the receptionist tried to talk to him.

"daniel" I say

he looks over and runs over to me, frantically trying to search my eyes for an answer.

"I don't know anything. but when they were bringing her back she fell unconscious"

daniel backs up into the wall in front of me and repeats exactly what I did, every single thing.

"I should've been there"

"I should've been th-" I cut him off

"daniel, you couldn't have known this was going to happen. you did nothing wrong by going to work, and if it helps phoenix and deja were with me for the day anyways. so they saw none of it and still don't know what's going on" I assure him

daniel puts his head back down and I hear him sigh.

"i'm glad the kids didn't see it" he smiles lightly.

I smile lightly too and then we hear the doctors open from the er

"family of julia jacobs"

I furrow my eyebrows and so does daniel. we walk over to her and she smiles.

"it'd actually Julia Seavey" daniel politely corrects her.

"oh i'm so sorry. that's what the nurse told me." she apologized

"well, is she okay?" I ask

the doctor looks back and forth between daniel and I and sighs.

"Julia is fine. she is doing well, on some pain medications and asleep." she smiles

I feel a huge weight lift off my shoulders and I wrap my arm around daniel, side hugging him.

"and the baby?" daniel asks, as I move my arm.

"the baby, almost didn't make it. she will come earlier than expected but, we saved her just in time." I smile

"it's a girl?" daniel asks excitedly.

I widen my eyes and my smile becomes bigger and the doctors gasps

"yes, i'm so sorry! I shouldn't have said any-" I cut her off

"we were going to find out soon anyways. thank you, can we see julia?" she nods and leads us into the back door and you can smell that germy- hand sanitizer smell of the hospital immediately.

"she's in room 112"

we thank her and we both quickly walk into the room, seeing her sleeping peacefully- her baby bump showing, with straps around it. daniel and I both take seats on both sides of her bed and take our hands into hers.

she's okay.
