Chains

Burning, scarring
These links of searing flames
The flames that appear from the damned
They scorch the flesh,
But do not scorch one's life.
These chains keep you locked,
Until you decide,
Out of desperation,
You wrap it around your breath.
The flames taunt you,
Taunt you with the sweet relief.
But the chains tighten,
Tighten after every thought.
The flames and chains feed on you.
They feed on your truthful lies.
They tempt you more and more.
Now end it.
Pull it over your breath
And be free.
