Mia's POV

Last year I made a mistake.

A big mistake.

I fell in love with my best friend.

Falling in love with someone is easy but admitting it to them is hard.

When I admitted my love to Aaron last year, I felt like he would actually like me back.

I mean we had been best friends since 3 years. Those years were the best years of my life.

But then the results of me admitting my love to him weren't as I expected.

But then I was actually glad. Glad because if he had liked me then it would have killed me inside to move to America and leave him.

I was sitting near my window analysing my thoughts when suddenly there was a knock at my door I got up to unlock it and saw my mom outside.

"Hi, mom!" I said cheerfully so she wouldn't suspect that I was in deep thought.

"Hi, sweetie! Your father and me are going to take a short trip to California along with your sister, but since you are in high school and don't have holidays you won't be coming along." My mom said.

I was all smiles until I heard the last sentence.

I frowned after hearing it.

Before I had a chance to protest She contined "There is a new family that live just two blocks away from us. They are our really good friends. We met when you were just a small baby. They have shifted from England as well, but we never met there because we lost touch. So since we are meeting after a long time we decided to take a trip to California together, so we could spend some time with each other."

Trying to digest everything my mom just said "Are you saying that I'm going to be alone for - wait how long are you guys going to stay there?" I asked.

"We'll just stay there for a month. It isn't that long." She quickly added the last sentence when she saw that my mouth was wide open.

"But that doesn't mean that you'll stay alone. The new family has a son exactly your age and we decided that you and him will stay together in our house for a month.thier son is a gentleman and your father and I trust him. Now I expect you to be at your best behaviour and keep this house intact." She finished.

"Ok! So, basically you are going to make me stay here, in our house, alone, with a guy who I haven't even seen yet." I said with clear shock in my voice.

"Oh, honey! I’m sure you've already met him. He goes to your school. His name is Aaron Lanter. He is my friend Linda and her husband’s son."

Hearing Aarons name I was staring at my mom with the are-you-serious look.

Before I had a chance to say anything my mom continued "In fact you will go to their house right now to welcome them to our neighborhood and give them the cookies I baked."

"But-" I began.

"No buts Mia." My mom said strictly.

"Ok, I'll go!" I said I don't usually let go of things without a small protest but I knew better than to argue with my mom.

"Mom, when will you be leaving?"

"We’re leaving tomorrow night."

"Seriously!"

"Yes! Now hurry up and wear something decent and go to the Lanters' house." She said as she glanced at my pink shorts and black tank top and then left the room.
