Jace's POV
"Jace!" I put down my sword and went to the top of the Institutes' grand staircase. "Yes, what is it, Maryse?" I walked down the stairs into the Entrance Hall and Maryse joined me.
"Oh, there you are! Jace, a new girl is starting training today at the Institute. I want you to welcome her, because Alec is with Magnus and Isabelle's a bit overbearing sometimes." I sighed and agreed. "Good, she'll be here in a few minutes." Mayrse started to walk away then stopped and turned back around. "Oh, and Jace, I forgot to tell you, she's Clary's twin sister and her name is Lizette Fairchild." Then she was gone. Clary's TWIN?!?! She didn't tell me she had a twin!!!!
There was a knock on the heavy oak doors and I opened them. My mouth just about fell open. Standing beside Clary was a girl who was slightly taller than her, a girl who was absolutely, stunningly gorgeous. She had waist length golden blond hair, bright sky blue eyes, perfectly tanned skin and soft pink lips. Clary was beautiful, but this girl had an other-worldly beauty about her, a beauty that made you think that she couldn't possibly be real. "Hi Jace! This is my twin sister Lizette." I studied Lizette hard, trying to find any resemblance in her face to Clary or Jocelyn, but there was nothing. Red ahir against blond, green eyes against blue, pale skin against tanned, she was their exact opposite.
Lizette blushed under my heavy stare and looked down at the ground. "Hello Lizette, I'm Jace. Clary, Mayrse said I'm supposed to train you and Lizette together, so lets go up to the training room." I led the way back up to the training room, then to a little room beside it called the weapons room where we could find Lizette a weapon.
"What's Your weapon of choice?" She was staring around the room in awe when I asked her. "A whip, preferably bronze and electrum, concealed daggers and a seraph blade." Lizette stated confidently. My head just about exploded with excitement. Pretty girl, who's my sister (ugh, never catch a break, do I?) and KNEW WEAPONS!!!! "What length?" I asked eagerly. "Four and a half inch blade, I find anything longer than five inches snaps too easily. You?" Her sky blue eyes stared into my golden ones. "Well, it's more than an inch I can tell you." (reference!!!) Lizette gave me a strange look. "What?"
I turned around and opened a weapons vault full of whips. Grabbing a bronze and electrum one I tossed it to Lizette, who caught it deftly in one hand, while I searched for concealed daggers and a four and a half in seraph blade. Lizette slipped the dagger sheaths onto her wrists, putting the daggers in too, coiled her whip and attached it and her seraph blade to her utility belt. She had obviously handled weapons before, so I decided to start with hand-to-hand combat.
Lizette, how good are you at hand-to-hand combat?" She shrugged. "Pretty good I guess, Dad taught me well." I flinched at the mention of Valentine, but I just ahd to know... "What was it like being raised by Dad?" She looked surprised. "Amazing. Dad always loved me and gave me whatever I wanted. He taught me how to fight, how to kill demons, how to sweet talk myself out of situations... Then he left me, abandoned me where Mom found me, on an island out to sea." A tear slid down her cheek but she brushed it away hurriedly.
"Alright then, lets begin..."
